Well had a weekend with no viewings for the first time in ages, and feeling really fed up with the whole thing.
Its just so frustrating, its such a lovely house, but for one reason and another I have never liked it here, I knew before I completed that I was making a mistake, but the house was so lovely. Ahh well live and learn, but its just so frustrating trying to sell, it really makes you feel trapped, and I hate that!

Ourrac sorry to hear about the no shows, so rude

Vegasbaby, how Jammy, hope it all goes through smoothly for you.

    Hi all

I am starting to feel a bit better about the new house being home BUT there is some weird stuff I need to share.

Our house is 34 years old and according to our neighbours we are the 8th family to live there. That's an average of 4/5 years per family.

Anyway, we bumped into our neighbours on Thursday and they told us that the last people to live in the house seemed a bit strange. They only spoke twice in 4 years and they said the people came across as "cultish".

Well, just to add a bit more mystery. I was bedding in my new compost bin yesterday and decided to use the beach pebbles that are around the base of the washing line pole to make a rockery. I picked up one of the big stones and when I turned it over it had 'Unforgiveness' written in black marker pen. Scared the bejesus out of me. Anyway I picked up some more pebbles and sure enought there was another one. What a strange thing to write on a pebble. I know you can get decorative pebbles with peace, love and friendship etched in but 'Unforgiveness', !!!!!!?

And I'll tell you what else is spooking me. Outside our french doors a concrete slab has been layed with a double depth course of bricks all the way around. It looks as if someone was going to put in a conservatory and then changed their minds. Well, here's the spooky bit, my dog keeps trying to dig out the bricks on one side. He's at it everytime I let him out into the garden.

    Thoughts please.

Now that is spooky. Dogs have very sensitive noses and he may be smelling a dead bird or something similar.... but given that it under concrete.... It's ringing Brookside bells to me! I don't want to make you feel worse, and if I'm totally honest and it were me, I would want to either have a look or get someone else to - A pick axe maybe needed.

On the other hand, I (and you dog ;)) could be over-reacting and you could dig up some concrete for nothing. In which case - maybe you should finishe the job the previous neighbours started and put a conservaroty up?

Are you friendly with the local beat bobby? Maybe they could arrange a 'friendly' visit from a local sniffer dog.

Sorry you are beeing spooked in your new home. I hope you feel better soon. But do keep us updated on the 'Patio'

Cindie, unforgiveness is something Christians and others of a spiritual persuasion think of as a self-destructive force. In other words, if you hate others for their misdemeanours and dwell on that bitterness long enough, it can make you ill, both mentally and physically. This makess sense to a lot of people, spiritual or not.

One way I've seen for people to overcome their unforgiveness, is to write the name of the person they can't forgive on a stone, drop it and walk away. That would symbolise leaving the hatred behind.

In this instance, it could be that the person concerned wrote the word on a stone or two, if they thought this was their worst failing, and literally 'left it behind.' In any event, the writing is not necessarily sinister.

If, after a while, you still feel that your house has a troubling atmosphere, you can get a local minister to bless it for a small fee. Some people find this helpful.
  • Afternoon all,

Our MA has put our offer forward this morning (148,500 on a 175k over priced house) I cant sit still, im scared to go up stairs incase the phone rings and i miss it:rotfl:
I spoke to my MA this morning and he said the ea was quite abrupt and said " the vendor will never go that low!" but he gave her all the info about zoopla price, recent sold prices how much they paid etc etc and she reluctantly agreed to pass the offer on.

I dont expect them to except it, first offer after all, but i may get a counter offer so i can judge where to aim next.

if anyone wants the link to the house and wants to tell me what they think about the price let me know and i will pm you

I will keep you all informed :D

    Good luck everyone x

    Thanks Davesnave

I never thought about the pebbles that way. I am going to go through the rest and see if there are any more writings.

And I think the dog could be trying to dig up the patio because maybe someone buried a dead pet there at some time in the past. Does this sound more logical?

I still wonder why the neighbours only spoke twice in four years though. The guy next door said anytime Mr pulled on the drive when he was outside, the guy used to scuttle into the house as fast as possible. What's that film with Tom Hanks? The Burbs? Yikes:eek:

Well done rumncoke! We had 3 deals fall through last year, but in the end we resigned ourselves to a sort of 'Que sera' philosophy, which we still have.

It seems things work out when they are meant to, and that's about the long & short of it. Now we're buying about 200 miles from where we started looking, but nothing surprises us any more!
