Hi, if I may join in. Our house has been on Rightmove since Friday night. We were really surprised to get a call Saturday from the agents to book our first viewer in for today (Monday) at 2pm. I spent yesterday cleaning, and even came running home from work at lunch today to clean up four kids worth of morning mess, only for the viewer to be a no show. Hubby sat in the house from 1.30-3.30, not daring to move, and all for nothing.

So having felt a little bit optimistic, I now suspect it's going to be a long haul. And I may as well come and make some new friends here!

  • Had the viewer come round today. Made some nice comments on the rooms, but got the feeling its not going to go any further. Was only at the property around 10 minutes.

Got another viewing on Friday so will have to see how that goes.

Arggh, this thread makes me so jealous! All you sellers talking about extensive cleaning, decluttering, fresh coffee etc. I'll tell you what I had to put up with in the properties I've seen so far as a buyer:

    - extensive condensation and mildew round windows not even attempted to be disguised/cleaned
    - cracked tiles all over the bathroom/kitchen
    - tenants sitting in their pants smoking cigarettes whilst I was viewing
    - tenants sleeping in their beds while I was viewing
    - overflowing ashtrays in rooms including the bathroom!
    - more mildew and limescale than I have ever seen in a bathroom
    - ovens and hobs that havent been cleaned for what looks like a year or two
    - broken windows
    - some of the most disgusting toilets I've ever seen
    - empty condom wrappers on the floor
    - two bed flats I thought were too small for me on my own with 2 couples plus one child, plus one parent
    - extremely "generous" read outright lying marketing material. 10 foot by 10 foot room my backside - could barely fit the length of a single bed in it! (if I was lucky enough to get room measurments let alone photos before a viewing!)

Oh the list goes on! I had to learn to look past all this and see the space, but it came as a huge shock when I first started looking. I'm buying in London and it seems that people think they can offload any old !!!!! It's no wonder the average time I spent viewing a flat was about 2 minutes - half of them I couldnt wait to get out of!

OMG - what a horror story ...... perhaps Sellers your end aren't that committed to selling !!!!!

Shame you're not looking in any of the areas some of us on here are trying to sell - we go to 150% for our viewings !!!

    Good luck !

Welcome Sundin - it's a real pain when you get a "no show" especially all the inconvenience you have put you and your family through - hopefully your EA got some kind of pathetic excuse ??!!!

Good luck - stay positive !

Hi all, just popping by for a quick catch up. Welcome to any recent newcomers here!

A few thoughts on recent posts:
    1. If they only view for a few minutes they don’t like it. Fair enough.
    2. If they take ages to give feedback, it’s unlikely to be positive. Move on.
    3. If they can’t be bothered to tidy up or clean for your viewing, you’ll probably be left with a mess on completion, but you may get an extremely good deal on the price as everyone else probably legged it within minutes.

Those are just my personal viewpoint on our house-selling ‘story so far’. Overall, I don’t expect everyone to want to buy my house, and I’m not offended by poor feedback. They don’t want it, and they usually say something fairly inoffensive. C’est la vie!

We’ve had a few weird viewers - we’ve had plenty of robotic ones, but we’ve also had some really nice ‘human’ viewers. We have a strong feeling now that it will eventually be one of the nice humans who will actually buy. I think the weirdoes and the robots often have an agenda, sometimes not so well hidden. :)

    Point taken

BUT- you are missing the point of this thread- which is recognising that selling is stressful and giving sellers a resourse to use to ''vent'' their stress. Stress - rational or otherwise - occours and it is nice to be able to share and sympathise with others in similar situation.

    Catch my drift.........;)
