Well I am finally moved and back online!!
Note to self never let hubby look at a property on his own when buying - he wears rose-coloured glasses!! House we moved into had heavy smokers living in it which if Im honest would have stopped me buying it - it affects 3 of the kids chests and I cant bear the smell Im afraid (no offense to smokers!). So we have to redecorate the whole house. Also there is alot of work needs doing that hubby didnt spot! Will have to get my tape measure out but garden is no-where near 80ft as advertised (wonder how that stands legally) but saying that we are all back together as a family and thats what is most important. We are tied into staying here for 2 years, but will probably stay 4 to give us time to recover financially and do the much needed work on the house.
Good luck to all those still on their journies!! Will be thinking of you as I still trip over bags and boxes and cant find anything!!
(Oh and my 3yr old got a place at the primary school 2 of my others go to so that is great, but my 13 yr old had to appeal for a place at high school and it was refusedso looks like a bit of homeschooling will be in order on top of unpacking!!!)
So pleased for you Kymie - you'll soon have your home the way you want it and smelling lovely I hope !!!!
Good news about the primary school for your little one and I hope older child gets a place soon.
Lovely, lovely news - hope you are all very happy together at last !!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

I'm mostly finding this whole thing soul destroying and have twice thought about taking it off the market, but I suppose it's giving me plenty of time to really think what I want/need for the next house.
Quick question, the Rightmove maps have changed recently, I used to use them in satellite mode and it would tell you the direction you were facing, so it was easy to see the orientation of a house, it doesn't anymore so can anyone recommend a map site that does show orientation. I'm a bit obsessed about wanting evening sun in the back garden of the next house as thats always been a bugbear for me
Hi there, stay with it - stay positive - it is hardwork I know !!!
Have you tried www.aboutmyplace.co.uk - tab to move North to West is on RHS and Birds Eye view is fab !!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Hi,
My property postcode is NE23 7LD for Rightmove. Funnily enough my neighbour's property is the one that sandwiches mine in the postcode search results.. lol.
I did check the click throughs with the EA and since the local paper ad on Wednesday there's only been 6 potentials that have viewed my property with no-one following up with a viewing. I am in another ad this weekend.
this one? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-13976049.html?locationIdentifier=POSTCODE%5E558399&insId=1&maxPrice=230000&pageNumber=1&backToListURL=%2Fproperty-for-sale%2Ffind.html%3FlocationIdentifier%3DPOSTCODE%255E558399%26insId%3D1%26maxPrice%3D230000
If it were mine, i'd clear all the clutter out of the kitchen and tidy away the baby things in the sitting room. I'll come back later when I have a moment.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Hi Spirit,
No mine is the other one that is up for £99,950.0 -
Was jumping on the sellers bandwaggon, but as of today not so sure.
Bought £112k in 07'. Spent £3k doing the flat up (if not more)
Current valuations £95k and £87.5k. My mortgage is currently £91k & I owe 7k to parents.
We'd saved up £16k deposit for the next house, seems like a bit of a waste of time really.
I’m not sure there’s much of a wagon to jump on really. Unfortunately you bought at the top of the market and are currently seeing the result of that. If I were you I’d carry on saving for a bigger deposit (thus eventually a better LTV) and ride out the storm. Just my pov.0 -
Our viewers that were interested but hadn't put their house on the market have had an offer on their place and are viewing again on Friday :j :j I am just a little hopeful that they'll put in an offer over the weekend and we can sort out the move for the end of May.
After a hideously difficult time, this is such good news - I'm very excitedI'll update when theres more news...
Good luck to everyone, I definitely think the good weather has brought the viewers out.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Sorry Spirit, yes that is the right link for mine at £99.950. The link didn't work when I was at work, but am home now and can see it. I know next door have pics of their sitting room which has the baby stuff out on their rightmove ad.0 -

Hi not_loaded, we came to that conclusion yesterday, we've still got two more EAs coming but we've decided that we need a proper holiday - we abstained from a honeymoon because we wanted to move into a house this year and start a family, but seeing as that's not happening we've decided to go far east this year. It'll put a dent in the savings but as you say, with the current market we can't justify the move.Tim0 -
I have been reading this post with interest over the last few months and it has been great getting some ideas, we have been on the market since August 2009, were originally on with one agent and got an offer which we accepted and found a lovely house and things started moving along, we paid for the survey and then found out our buyer could not get a mortgage even though we had been told he could. As we had such a nightmare with the agents we changed and remarket it, had loads of viewings but no offers but because it was December/January we weren't to worried. Then last week we got an offer a lot lower than marketed for but we decided lets take it, he seemed very keen and we found a little house put an offer in and now our agent can't get hold our buyer to get solicitors details so it looks like we are going to lose another house.
Does it ever get better, it feels like we arent meant to do this.0 -
[Does it ever get better, it feels like we arent meant to do this.[/QUOTE]
We put our house on for sale in June 2008 and 15 months later, got the keys to our new house. We had two sales fall through (including one chap who put in an offer and then totally disapeared), were gazumped, had sellers pull out, a buyers solicitor who specialised in divorce law and to be honest, the most stressful time of my life (admittedly compounded by the sudden death of my partners mother).
Although it was horrendous (I'm a very cheery person, but I still can't look and laugh yet, I can only block it from my mind and thank my lucky stars) we now have a wonderul house in a wonderful area (we moved as our old area was going to the dogs with nightly trouble from kids). We unpacked boxes and have pretty much done nothing to the place. We're never going to move again (I don't think either of us could face it) so we can take our time making it perfect, which it is far from at the moment.
So yes, it does get better, you just have no idea of knowing when, which is the really hard part. I often thought 'if I just knew when this was going to end, if I just knew how long I have to go through this for it would be so much easier - whether it be two weeks or 3 years!'. My philosophy is 'this too shall pass' and I hope the sky gets brighter for you sooner rather than later.
Good luck to you all - it's brutal, horrible and stressful, but if you plough on, you'll get there!
Oh - and the house we bought was the first one we ever saw when we got our first offer - they'd were repossessed in the meantime. I tried to remember that for some others, things are much worse (it just didn't feel like it at the time!)Hoping to create a beautiful life for DS and I.
As of August 2025...
Current mortgage: £352,018. Approx current house value £525k. Mortgage up Sept 2026
Current retraining fund: £26,735 (planned career change by 2030)
