OMG - you are right. Have just had the call, we've exchange for completion on Monday. :j:beer::j

After 15 months, 3 buyers, 4 houses and near nervous breakdown, I can't quite believe it's actually happened. I think this whole time I was still bracing myself for it to fall apart again!!

We've got so much to do now in such a short space of time, but I'm so glad to have this problem instead of the others we've had for so long!:D

Anyway, thanks all for hte support, I really wish I'd know about this forum much sooner, it's felt very lonely at times and like it's only our house.

For those still struggling, good luck, you will get there eventually if you hang on in there! :T

Must go, sooo much to do but will post back when it's all over - here's hoping they actually complete on Monday! ;)
Hoping to create a beautiful life for DS and I.

You can ask but they don't always know. All this week I've been asking and have been told 'today, in the next 2-3 hours' but it never happens.

You certainly are allowed to ask - it's a service you are paying for so they should give you an update if you want one - but I don't think it's an exact science. If they tell you 'next week', be prepared that it might not happen as planned, as it seems it can be difficult to just get everyone on the phones at the same time. He said it took a long time today because there were so many people to talk to, but there were only 3 houses in the chain!

Today I accepted an offer on my flat (vacant as let it out for a year) after the previous sale fell through due to the buyer changing her mind 1 week before exchange. It was on the market for 10 days and I had about 15 viewings - feedback from most was that it was too small - its a 1 bed flat and the floorplan included measurements! I just hope this sale goes through smoothly, at least my solicitor has everything ready to supply it on request.

OH and I managed to change our finances so we don't lose the house we are buying which was also close to exchange, but now there is a problem at the top of the chain, which is 5 long, its all so infuriating isn't it. All you can do is phone the EA, phone the Solicitor and wait! We are told a different story each day so until I have those keys I won't believe the house is ours. Moan over!

    Thank you.

Do you think it will be safe when Ive found out that its near the exchange of contracts stage, to go ahead with paying the rest of the money, doing the inventory on the place that we are down for to rent.

    Would you do it?

Its just that we are at the stage where we are sort of near exchange contracts stage with solicitors & doing inventory/paying rest of money stage with the estate agents of the place we are down for to rent.

We really dont want to lose the place.

    Help! Argggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

had the second EA round today... had the gift of the gab.. too much so I thought.. wanted to value 15k under the previous quote I had, could tell I wasn't pleased so agreed at the same price (I hadnt told him what it was)

fees a flat fee of 2k.... not far off 2%

    Well done Shellstar.
We are no further forward, the people who came for a second viewing have now told our EA that the person who has offered on their house hasnt even got a buyer:confused: so why go to the bother of viewing again when you cant proceed. Then had someone else last week who have sold and are in rented who like the house but arent sure if they want to move to the area (they live 2 miles away) So how about driving around the area first?
Sorry for the rant but am just sick of people not giving real reasons, I would like to know if they think something is wrong with my house so I could try and put it right! I suppose I should be thankful for the interest.

Is anyone else sick of the picky people on Location, location ,,,. We saw a property last week (when we thought we had a proceedable buyer:rolleyes:) , it had grotty carpets, no wallpaper on the walls in the hall, the bathroom had half of the tiles on the floor and the other half in the box where he hadnt finished. Now i personally would not let people view my house like that but we could see past all the unfinished mess, see the potential, liked the location.
