Figured best to ask in here, as you're all selling.

Finally off the phone to my mortgage people, and after a 2 week wait they've actually looked at my forms and are sending round the valuer 'soon'. Should I give the EA a courtesy call just to update them, as the sellers have heard nothing for probably 16 days now from my side?

Definitely. It you keep everyone informed then they are more understanding of having to wait. It also shows you are still keen and not getting cold feet.

Yeah, I gave them a call in the end. The vendor said she'd never sold a house before, so its all new to her as well, so I thought if I was getting worried about timeframes she might as well.

    Hi Guys.
Hope all is well with all, my BB still isnt on, and its really slow on a Doogle thing, esp MSE for some reason.
Move was a bit of a nightmare, I have far too much stuff, and we did it ourselves. Three Luton loads, three trailer loads and countless car loads!
Took ages. Rental house was minging, filthy including maggots, carpets with urine in etc, still scrubbing! But I am back in the village I want to be in and its all a step in the right direction, and so pleased to not have the stress of that flippin house that I hated any more. Shame it was a lovely house. Good luck to those still going through the mill.
    Pawpurrs x ;)

Well the house we offered for last week was sold this week for the asking price, which is surprising but there you go. Further to that I did say I didn't want to see any more properties until we sell this one, but now Mr Scallie has made us an appointment to see another one. Honestly, what is the point of looking when no one has shown any interest in ours yet?

In the meantime I've managed to redecorate the bedroom, so that's one thing.

…Next time I'll tell them it's staying on until the survey has been done.
I’d keep it on till exchange, as that’s when it’s really sold. Think motivation! ;)

    Yay! Well done! :)
  • In a bid to get our house move back on track I'm off to the council offices tomorrow to get copies of old planning applications and building regs completion certificates. Our conveyancer should have all the paperwork because she did the conveyancing when we purchased and the planning app etc was done before our purchase. She told me she'd been off last week so is very busy and it may not be in the old file anyway. I made it clear I want to move asap (had been hoping for before the start of the new academic year) and so I will do anything to hurry the process along. I do think it's working as she pulled out the paperwork for our house purchase and started working on it so we have progress. I did ask her how much longer and she said 2 weeks to exchange and another 16 working days for completion. If we opt for less than 16 working days between exchange and completion we get charged extra. It is £96 for between 15 and 11 days plus £6 for each extra day under 11 this has to be multiplied by 2 as there are 2 transactions (sale and purchase).

I think next time we move I'll do my own conveyncing!

I'd say you can keep viewing if people don't mind you seeing their house when you're not proceedable (some mind but a lot don't) and you can handle the heartache if you love somewhere and it goes to someone else. Personally, we just kept an eye on Rightmove and had a shortlist of places we wanted to see should we ever sell, so we were able to arrange viewings really quickly, but we didn't actually look until we had a buyer for our place.

We're not completing on Friday, we had to put our foot down on that yesterday and our solicitor also advised that he wouldn't be able to complete either. Our buyers came round last night as they are desperate to be in before their tenancy ends. We agreed to complete on Monday if they can force their solicitor to exchange today, so we've got our fingers crossed. She is ready, she's just not been answering the phone and it turns out she's part time and usually only handles divorces!! Unbelievable. I think they are planning to seriously complain and try to get some money back when this is all over.

Anyway, the meeting was pretty smooth, but at the end of the day we had to point out that there is nothing we can do, because we're completely ready and have bent over backwards, and it's their solicitor that they need to be pleading with. She's out today apparently, but they are planning to kick off and force the company she works for to find someone else to do it today.

    I wish them luck!
Hoping to create a beautiful life for DS and I.

Current emergency fund: £10,469 (hoping to reach £42k as a transition fund)
Current buy out/moving fund: £44,429.21 (plus equity)
  • Well they took the biscuit today !!!

I had a letter from the council about my council tax telling my £100 was being credited to my account .... mm nice i thought but better ring them up as it didnt sound right.

It turns out my buyers have contacted them to give them their details as the new owners from the 28th Aug !!! They said they had phoned them on the 17th Aug to give the new owner details so my account had been closed  hence the rebate

Im sooo angry i didnt even get the call about them wanting to be in by next friday till the 18th !!

Can they change other services like this too ? they have been given all the information on who im with from the f&f form.

you should see the steam coming out my ears !!!!

Dear Charliestwins, what a horrid thing to do to you. I'm a bit speechless as I don't really know how these things are supposed to work, but it's a bit rich to claim they will be the new owners from end of August when there isn't a completion date agreed even?

Guess it's call your solicitor tomorrow... If someone did that to me I'd be inclined to tell them they can look for another house as I wouldn't want to deal with them.

Anyway, take a few deep breaths, try not to get too upset - bad for the blood pressure and all that! ;)

Hopefully your solicitor can sort it out tomorrow.

Big hugs from wild and windy but sunny Wales,

    Maggie
