PMSL at those labour stories! During my long labour they kept sending DH home (which really annoyed me, but we'd been at it on & off for 5 days). When he got back the last time I asked if he'd brought that pizza.

Then after my C-section I was clock-watching as wanted to get to hold my baby. After 45 mins of being stitched up I asked the surgeon, "What are you doing down there, embroidery?" To which he replied, "Yes, I've got some sparkly beads I could add on if you'd like?":rotfl:

Although absolute funniest was Imogen being born to "When a child is born" on the CD player in the theatre - it was Boxing Day.

    I didn't do anything hilarious :(
Don't think I had time as was only at it for 4hours (sorry Lu:p)
I did get fed up of the TENS machine and ripped it off and threw it at OH.
Mum was being too gentle when giving me water so I snatched the glass and just threw it over my face
and I did the usual mid pushing "I can't do it!"
    I'm such a bore!

When James was born, he'd been curled up on the scan so I didn't know if he was a boy or a girl when I was pregnant.

I gave birth sitting up on the hospital bed. All of a sudden my waters broke and he shot out and it all happened so quickly that he inhaled amniotic fluid so he was a bit blue. The midwife grabbed him by the ankles and was holding him upside down to help drain the fluid, so when I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was his testicles a few inches from my face! It was then I realised I'd had a baby boy :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....

:rotfl:Becles - it'll be fun to mention in front of future friends/girlfriends when James is a grown up, that the first thing you saw of him were his dangly bits! :rotfl:

With this one, i didn't have time for 'crazy' drugs, so didn't do/say anything stupid - apart from 'i've changed my mind, i want to go home, it hurts!'

With my first, the pethadine and gas and air combo made me convinced there was a TV built into the ceiling, and I kept telling people to move it as it was annoying me.

Second time, she was born just before midnight, then I was taken up to the ward and went to sleep. I woke in the early hours, wondering why I was in hospital, and thinking i'd had a vivid dream about having a baby! I was walking around the corridor looking confused when a nurse came and told me i'd had a little girl and she was in the nursery.

Lu T - glad you are ok. I'm jealous of you getting to hold your little one so soon after birth - I had to wait 10 hours! It was so strange knowing I had had a baby but I could see (as I had a c-section) and there was no baby to see afterwards so I didn't really believe the doctor - luckily we bonded pretty instantly when I did see her.

3 - I am now a SAHM :D We'll miss my salary, but I'm lucky OH had a good job and we can manage ok. I think I will eventually look for a part-time job, but probably won't go back to being a full time solicitor. I just love being at home, but totally understand its not for everyone. I think I'd like to get involved in running a group or soemthing when LO is older.....

Caz - can't Believe you are abandoning me! good luck to your OH.

Sami - that pic of Chris was adorable - he's getitng sooooo grown up! Sending you some labour vibes a little early - Krystal - hurry up!!!!

right - had granny 1 visiting yesterday and granny 2 this morning so off to take a very sleepy girl for a nice relaxing walk in the pram - we have a hectic week coming up as DH taking the week off and have all sorts of people coming to visit us (some more welcome than others!)

Feelie - I'm thinking of you sweetie - sendingyou hugs.

Susan - good luck with the house move

    mfd - well done

phew. I'll shut up now :D

Aw Lwcus, lucky you, pembs is gorgeous! We're thinking of hiring a cottage in St Davids in August...;)

We're about 45 mins away. We dont make the most of it though. I also love the Gower. We're also thinking of hiring cottage end of Summer as opposed to doing day trips. When i'm home I always find some job to do.

My friend had given her OH strict instructions that he was allowed to be down other end when baby came out and he was meant to tell her straight away if baby was boy or girl. Anyway, baby came out and dad had such a look of horror on his face and shouted "its ginger!!".

I was a bit mental during my C-section. I laugh when I'm mervous so just laughed the whole way through (although there was a crash team on stand by and a few paediatricains due to complications in pregnancy) I kept telling my husband that I was having a lovely time and I though everyone should experience this?. He asked the anaethiatist if they'd given me any drugs to make me go all weird. He said no?!

I've just cooked sausage and mash for tea and LO is havin a nap so some peace and quiet for a wee while.

My friend had an indian doctor and she told him to go back to his own country coz she couldn't understand him:eek: She later apologized and he was fine about it but she felt terrible!!!

LuT I haven't laughed so much in ages, ur labour story is great :rotfl:

Hehe lol @ all the funny birth stories - When the midwife said she could see ds1's head I kept shouting 'grab it's nose and pull it out, just grab it's nose...please!'. Nothing funny with ds2. ds3 I kept going on to dh your a scientist invent me some stronger gas and air....I think everyone got sick of going on about how crpa it was and it should be stronger!

Good luck with the house move Susan. I just saw a house not far from here 4beds, ideal...but I really don't want to move, sooo, probably won't bother with it. IF we do have anymore kids we can look about then.

Well it looks like we are having MIL to babysit tomorrow - god only knows how she is going to manage, but I suppose as long as we get back and they are all fine...then that's the most important thing!
I just wish it wasn't for so long.

When Alice was born there were three doctors and two midwives in the room all hollering, "Push". Since she came out with an Agpar of 8 I'm not quite sure how that fits with having the minimum people necessary unless it's an emergency. I suspect the midwife paniced because she went off and left me for two hours.

Next time I'm having a homebirth and hopefully an independent midwife.

And a fully referenced birth plan.
