The only thing I found with putting something under the highchair was sometimes if it was a particularly messy day then food found it's way underneath the mat... Although if it's lino it'd probably be less of a problem than a flimsy plastic mat...

Caitlyn was weighed today, she's regained the 7oz that she lost, plus an extra 6oz... So 13oz in 5 days... Not surprised considering how much time she spends clamped to my chest... She's been really unsettled tonight though, I'm hoping now she's finally asleep that she'll stay that way for a good few hours!

Krystal if you are still here, can I pick your brains, we had a green poo today which i understand indicates that Eloise is getting too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk.

As it has been hot recently she has been a bit 'snacky' and i recall a comment on here about them just having a drink rather than a feed when its hot, so could that be the problem?

I'm just slightly concerned bearing in mind that she only gained 10oz in 3 weeks and from what i read on babycentre the green poo problem is likely to be related to poor weight gain, i think i rambled a bit, hope it made sense?

Mums and tots groups, my advice would be to go once and if you don't feel comfortable and are not made to feel welcome try a different group, I spent many unhappy hours in mums and tots groups last time because they were cliquey, this time I've found a lovely really friendly group.

Tip for making 'mum friends' if you are sitting on a park bench, sit at one end so someone can sit next to you rather than in the middle! There was a lady i have seen in the doctors who has a baby the same age as Eloise and the other day when I wanted to try and start a conversation with her i couldn't get near her because she was sat in the middle of the bench with the pram parked across the bench.

Thanks guys. We've had a lovely afternoon at the zoo, baby is asleep now, and I have a wee drinkie (only a wee one though, don't worry!)

MrsT - we have just bought the now cry sleep solution book (can't remember who it is by) which has some helpful suggestions - might be worth seeing if they have it in the library?

weezl i was actually going to msg you about some vegi meals as i think my iron is low again and know lentils are meant to be fab for iron! dont worry about me cutting down its more about cutting out the sweets/biscuits and rubbish i eat. i filled 2 fruit bowls today and had HM prawn curry for tea, although i hold my hands up at baking a load of muffins tonight. but my thinking was that as they are HM they must be better than shop bought:D well thats my excuse lol!!

happy birthday lady hope you had a lovely day!

typing on the iPod from bed having finally got caitlyn somewhat settled so only brief... Green poo is a sign that they're not getting enough of the fatty part of the feed, or are poorly latched on and only getting let down milk as opposed to a full feed. If you're happy with your positioning and attachment then it probably is down to snacky feeding. Try offering the same side again for the next feed or 2, as long as you even out feeds from each side during the day you'll still have even supply in each breast...

Oooo we still have healthy (well...) yellow poo so guess that means Alexandra is getting plenty of both fore and hind milk then :) I've been worrying about if she was getting enough hindmilk as she wouldn't stay on long each time yesterday... :)
Well that's one less worry! :D
BTW thanks for your reply Krystal :) I'll reply tomorrow - I'm knackered! Gonna run off to bed I think and leave Euan with the now grouchy baby lol

well TMI alert! toilet trips are much more frequent and I'm feeling sick so I think my body is preparing for something to happen but no pains or anything. after being chilled out I'm now in a mild panic :o Hubby is at a client site today not a million miles away but I'm really scared of going into labour and him not getting back in time!

i SOOOO understand that sami. we are down south and my hubby left to go up north becuase the pains i was having was nothing like i was told i would get (as they were all in my back). i stopped timing my contractions becuase i knew they were too close and he wasn't anywhere near home. cue me arriving at the hospital at the same time as him (thankfully) to find i was 9.5cm gone and my daugther was back to back (which explained the completely different types of pain)

I know it's too late to 'save' emlou but just thought I'd say, parasols for pram's are stupid and pointless :o
If you want to buy something specialist for the job, try a canopy or a shade-a-babe cover. otherwise you'll spend your day out stopping every 10 steps trying to wrestle the parasol into a good position to shade baby as its very rare that you'll walk in a straight line so every bend or turn in the road the sun moves and requires the parasol moving too :p
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.
