What about this one, there is a mum I see at baby clinic sometimes. In weather like this she wears a vest top like most other sane people but then lifts her baby out of a heavily padded pram removes it's COAT, then long sleeved top then vest  the poor child is being slowly roasted alive!!

Guilty, although it was her choice not mine. El is out every morning for a walk with the dog. I just had my hoodie on and she requested a thick jacket I showed her a thin one but she was adamant it was the thick one so to save any hassle I put it on her but left it open, it's not so bad tho coz she still has her pjs on.

  • Guess who forgot to take a hat out this afternoon :o :rotfl:

Although to be fair Benjamin was in his car-seat with the shade up and I hung a muslin over the front of him (something I do sometimes to try to get him to sleep - he is SO nosy!).

An idea for anyone else who has a car-seat that goes on top of their buggy frame we have taken to walking out to meet daddy on his way home from work...as long as the route is pre-agreed we just walk towards him until he finds us and brings us home :D

That's really sweet MFD, and completely agree about the hat thing! I was lucky with Aimee, she discovered pretty quickly that hats kept the sun out of her eyes so she was always happy to wear one... Although now I send her up the garden in a hat and I usually find it in the middle of the lawn while she's on the swing... She has a school trip to the zoo tomorrow so I just made sure her name was written inside her new cap!

We took Caitlyn a walk to the school at kicking out time... Didn't even get halfway down the drive and we were mobbed by people having a look at the baby... All the chav mum's were crowded round telling me how cute she was... Despite the fact she decided halfway there that she wanted feeding and was screaming blue murder at the time... I ended up sitting on a little bench between playgrounds feeding her while hubby took Aimee and her friend that we walk back to the ice cream van that is still there... Will definitely have to complain about it again, we can't afford to be fleeced by it again... £1.50 for a screwball they're charging!!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

yes krystal she still choaks herself in the morning but was told it was my let down reflex and full boobs dont help lol! she screams and is all agitated as she wants back on???
i gave her a little diluted apple juice but she wasnt too keen, she lay on a towel in the shade beside me most of the day babbling and moving around!
Erin also eats her hat or it falls over her eyes as she wriggles so much! never thought about muslin over the car seat/pram what a good dea:D but i agree on the wrapping babies up too much in this heat its terrible. however i am one of those mums that never has shoes and sock on charlie as he doesnt like them and he spent all winter without them on?? wasnt my choice lol

The answer is tights under his trousers. :rotfl: Not white lacy ones, obviously, but green, blue, red, black etc.

this is my solution to but seems to be a bit controversial with some - had to admit to feeling a bit miffed with mil when she said the other day that wearing tights under trousers had made lo walk funny (as apparantly he now walks more upright now although I would have said the fact he is older might be a pretty good reason for that :p).

 Mother in laws - you can't live with them and thank god I don't have to :rotfl:.

Feelie, I didn't go out alone until Tom was at least 6 weeks as I had a cs and couldn't drive and where I live everywhere is miles away. Even after that I tried to get my mam to come everywhere as I'd lost my nerve! I used to feel a bit bad as there's a girl up the street had a baby the same time and she was forever zipping past in her car and she's only about 19 so I didn't feel great that she was coping alot better than me. Tom did scream everytime he went somewhere new and every time he went in the car ubtil he was about 10 months though so it was quite stressful on my own. It's much easier now!

Also, I'm on of those bad Mams with no hats as Tom absolutely won't wear one. He was the same when the weather was cold. He just takes it straight off and if we try a tie on one he goes mad. It's not too bad when he's in his pushchair as he has a shade but what do you do when he's out of it? I can't keep him in the house all summer! I'm a bit worried about it as itwill be really hoton holiday and I don't want him to be ill. Any ideas? We keep putting a hat on him and giving him a round of applause (which he usually loves) but to no avail.

And he was a baby who took his socks off in winter until we bought tights - again, not a popular decision with everyone!

we've got a car seat that fits over the buggy, and the top of the buggy bit pulls over to meet the top of the car seat but has gaps down the bottom, its ruddy marvellous i tell thee! he goes straight off to sleep and the sun is kept completely off him :D

its SO hot he hasnt worn anything more than a vest for days  he seems to have gone off his fleecy blanket and now the only thing that will do is a muslin so i've been draping it over his legs while we're sat in the shade to keep the breeze off and then he waves it around like a flag while gooing very excitedly!! i love the distinct less-ness of washing that summer creates, a few vests a day as opposed to a few t shirts, vests and trousers, its brilliant! :rotfl:

we were going out with OH after 3 days (i say going out, i mean careful hobbling!) and ourselves when he went back to work at 3 weeks. i found it much easier to cope if we went out every day, if i didnt i found i was staying in staring at the same walls feeling sorry for myself and dreading when he next woke up cos he was bound to cry about something :o

Emlou, we have the same set-up with carseat and buggy, unfortunately unless Elijah is already asleep when we close it, he freaks out and gets very angry and upset til we open it again :| He is slightly more tolerant of draped muslins although he eventually wants to eat them, or at least wave them.

On the subject of going out with the baby, I started going out really early on. When my hubby went back to work, I set myself small targets starting with just a walk around the estate, then going to the shops, then i braved getting on a bus (and had to put travel system down and had to try and get everything on-that did stress me out a tad!) ..etc etc... I'm so glad i did, i've been out most days since even just for walks to get a bit of fresh air.

We brought an umbrella to go on our pushchair, as Elliot now pulls his hats off and tries eating them :) He's a cheeky thing, he'll try and grab anything and put it in his mouth.

    keely.

ps-rant of the day, strangers touching my baby!! I wish some people would keep away from Elliot, i really hate strangers touching him. Yuk.

pps-edited to add, i eased myself back into walking bit at a time because of all my stitches down there, i was was waddling about because of the swelling and so on lol.
