I agree :) i used to think it was gross but now i'm a bit more open to it tho not convinced i will keep going that long. I look at Chris and just can't imagine feeding a child that grown up :undecided
I'm wondering what the acronyms are too:confused:

I didn't want to use the word gross in my post because I wasn't sure if I'd be the only one thinking it was icky lol
But it really made me feel nauseus watching (I could help seeing the way the chairs were set up, I'm not a staring weirdo at Booby club btw LOL) and I had to find an excuse to turn my chair (thankfully it was easy, collar nearest HV and get her to sit on the opposite side and ask some question about BFing LOL)
Practically I doubt I can BF for 2 years - I have to return to work before then no matter what happens I think :) - I'll probably be pushed to get to a year :(

Aside from not wanting to continue I'm sure going back to work is a big factor for a lot of people stopping breastfeeding. (Although I'm fairly sure MDW went back to work so it is possible.)

My husband used to talk about them (retractable leads) too.

I can see the attraction ;) Especially when people let their toddlers run round the shops screaming their heads off and they can't catch them
When I went to Tesco yesterday I saw two opposite ends of the scale - first a mum and 2 girls, probably about 4 and 6 - she noticed the baby snoozing in her seat and actually said to the girls "schhh look a little baby, now don't shout or you might wake her and that wouldn't be nice would it?" - So I beamed her a HUGE smile :D
15 minutes later down the other end of Tesco a mum with a 5ish year old boy - he was running riot and she was just shouting at him but not making the slightest move towards actually stopping him, just shouting loads of threats about he'd get his bottom smacked blah blah blah he had NO respect for her or any one else and she didn't even register that she was waking up Roo even as I started shushing her (Roo - not the lady!) to calm her... She got a look full of loathing and NO smile btw!

I'm sat here singing 'Wind the bobbin up' but I have no children at home!:rotfl:. Too much Jo Jingles enjoyment I fear...

That reminds me of my Mam when she was buying a car. The garage man took hers for a quick test drive to check it was running ok before offering a trade in price. When he came back, he said "I don't think much of your taste in music mind" and laughed. My Mam was puzzled until she got back in the car and realised a nursery rhyme tape was still playing even though she had no children with her at the time :rotfl:

I was reading about the reward charts, and am sat feeling confused! I am also not sure how to explain what I am feeling.....Lately all I seem to do with my boys is use threats of punishment, so it will go something like this.....
"If you don't brush your teeth, NOW, your not going to your friends house"
"If you don't go to bed sensibly, you are not playing PS3 tomorrow"
etc. etc.....Imagine most of that being played out in a shouting voice while child is whining or messing around, and you will get the picture.

You could try choices and consequences. However you have to be brave enough not to mind if they choose the bad option! Basically it works by offering them a choice, so they get something good out of the option you want them to take, but they feel like they made the decision to get there.

Using your examples you could say:

If you don't brush your teeth, you're not going to your friends house. However, if you do brush your teeth, I'll give you a packet of chocolate buttons to take round to share. The choice is yours.

If you go to bed now, I'll let you have an extra 20 minutes on the PS3 tomorrow. If you choose not to go to bed now, you won't be allowed to play on the PS3 tomorrow. The choice is yours.

Practice saying it so it flows and say it firmly and let them make the choice. They soon learn to pick the right choice! Back it up with keep stating "good behaviour gets rewarded but bad behaviour gets punished".

The parent support lady taught me that when we had sessions about James, and it has really worked with him. I use it to nip tantrums in the bud before they turn into WW3.
Here I go again on my own....

    Interesting article...
I know I feel weird about people BFing kids that walk etc but I'd never make a comment in public about it, and I specifically made a point of hiding me turning away to avoid offending anyone.
I have to say I'm really not concerned about feeding in public - I'm pretty used to confrontation (part of my job) so sitting in a resturant feeding Roo wouldn't worry me in the least, if anyone passed comment or tried to make me leave they'd get a piece of my mind that's for sure! :D
If people don't want to look at me feeding my baby they can do as I did and subtly turn away and look the other way :) It's not impossible
