Thanks...I looked in Asda the other day, it's usually always a safe bet, but my Asda had nothing, it was awful!!!

Decided to give in and get the pool out, oh my god we have had such fun in it. We pulled the trampoline next to it and have been bouncing off it into the pool!!!!!!!

    dear all,

thanks for the thoughts on what the expensive part of having a larger family is.

Just one extra question, would people feel more inclined to have more when the govt increases SMP from 9 months to a full year, or is this just a drop in the ocean?

Mrs Tine, I'm a spreadsheet girl too, and a forward thinker! ;)

Ta very much for any thoughts,

    Weezl xxx

SMP increase wouldn't affect me, it was only 6 mths when I had Chris and I got nothing this time because i wasn't entitled to MA (Well I might have been after Ed was born but my lovely helpful family sorted all my crap out and now I can't find the form they sent back to me with all my wage slips, P45 and MATB1 in it :rolleyes:)
I will say that subsequent babies are much cheaper ;) the only big thing needed was a double pram although I have chosen to get a new carseat too but with breast feeding and hand me downs ed has been very cheap so far :D

Can't say it's an influencing factor in how many children we'll have but it's nice to get the extra money. Not sure whether it is "extra" for most people though - it is for us because I'm a partner in OH's business (doing accounts/admin for him) so don't actually lose income by being off work.

Actually on numbers of children - we went to Beamish today and we were in the kitchen of the farmhouse. There's this massive table in it and OH said to me, "This would be a really good room to have - a nice big table with lots of olive plants round it." [Olive plants = children - it's in one of the Psalms] I think you could fit a good few more than I have in mind round it!

ps. the only problem we are now facing with having 2 kids these days is that they both need carseats which mean that a 'family hatchback' isn't really that practical for a family, if we want to go and stay with my sister even just for 2 nights will would more than likely need to take a trailer or roof box as once all of us plus buggy and travel cot are in the car there's no space for clothes etc  OH is drooling over the C4 picaso shiny new car but we blatantly can't afford it - only one more payment to the bank of mum n dad and our current car is paid for tho...
