We're about to have a rainstorm! It thundered really loudly and me and my neighbour both ran outside to bring the washing in. (I like summer rainstorms because they cool things down and get rid of the pollen.)Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I've just been in Mothercare, and they have loads of maternity and feeding bras reduced - mostly in bigger sizes (E, F, G, H) although still some C's and D's.
I just got a pretty feeding one, white with red polka dots one for £8. (pretty and feeding don't normally go in the same sentence!)
I have that pretty feeding one...it is now grey with red spots and is not so pretty :rotfl::rotfl:
My son now weighs a pound for every week of his life - 15lb 1oz and 15 weeks
We have been out and about for 5 hours today in the sweltering heat and Benjamin is remarkably cheerful - wish I could say the sameplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
The baby whisperer is a great book (I lurk here
) It's how I managed to get DD sleeping through the night, by 7months she would STILL only sleep, If i bounced her to sleep in her baby bouncer:o
From what I recall, It's the Pick up/ Put down routine, and basically you pop baba in bed, go through your nightly routine, whatever that may be, go out and leave baby too it, when baby starts crying, you go in, pick them up until they stop crying and put them back down straight away, or even just reassure them, stroke their hands/heads, whatever their fancy is (DD's was her eyebrows!) Basically you are reassuring your child that you WILL come back, took us about 3 days, and I felt SOOOOO mean, and very tired! But she got the hang of it and never looked back (though now I wish she'd stop pleasing herself and climbing into my bed when she hears OH get up for work, ramming all her toys and drink bottle into my face, knicking the covers and farting against my leg)0 -
awww emlou thats a shame! can you not go on about his routine and how much easier it would be at your house! (what were you going to see?)Buttonmoons wrote: »The baby whisperer is a great book (I lurk here

susan - could be ctc... I don't qualify for either so often get them mixed up
Roo is being a grump again - and can't find any affordably air con units round where we live DRAT! Anyone found any online at a reasonable price?
I'm dying for a cool shower but have to wait till hubby gets in - then shower and into the hot kitchen to cook dinner - joy!
Baby finally sleeping in her swing - hoping we get a little more sleep tonight but not counting on it grrrr why does she need so little sleep when I need much more!
Tomorrow we're off to hospital to have her hips checked for clicky hip - as my sister had it and Roo was breach for so long she automatically landed on the "to be checked" list - at least hubby will be back in time for it with any luckDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! emlou,
the baby whisperer has another method that she calls pickup/put down which is gentler than CC. I'm happy to find links/post more about it if you like?
yes pleaseemlou - in which case in your place I'd stay home too - it just bugs me that despite working blooming hard I can't get any help to stay home too! It annoys me no end when they go on about "9 out of 10 families qualify for WTC!" - yeah well not all of us do! and I doubt it's only 1 in 10 that don't to be honest!
*sigh* rant over
we are in a similar situation. we are lucky not to have debt, but did buy a big house on the proviso of two wages - em, now we have one! and the credit crunch has hit hubbies work quite hard. I'll do anything to remain a SAHMredmel1621 wrote: »:rotfl:Yep:D

Hi all..
I've not had such a great day today..Rhys was seen by a couple of specialists who gave us some "not great" news and it just set me off so got all teary whilst cuddling Rhys. We had a chilled out few hours just sat together dozing in the goldfish bowl whilst nurses and other parents milled about around us. The news in itself wasn't anything too bad or even a final answer on anything, it just set me off cos of the tension of not knowing what the future holds, iyswim.
First was the eye specialist who said, although Rhys' eyes were fine last week, he's now showing signs of ROP - can't quite remember what it stands for now, but basically means his retinas have been affected by the oxygen therapy he's received whilst they were still developing. It looks like it's already healing itself but it puts him on the list for further follow-up checks at 3mth and 1yr then yearly after that. It is mild so it just means an increased chance of Rhys needing glasses at some point but that comes with prematurity too. Glasses are no biggie, I know, but I think it was just the "he was fine, now he's not" part of it.
Second was the speech therapist. Rhys wasn't wide awake whilst she was there so didn't make his best efforts on sucking the bottle teat - probably exhausted himself with it this morning when he took 15ml, his best yet. She was fairly pesamistic about it all, and basically told me he would never breastfeed so there is little point in me even trying him anymore.. I think that's what's got to me most - I so so so wanted to breastfeed and now we've been told not to try "cos there's no point" and also because they can't "risk" him actually achieving it and taking some milk because it'll mess up his carefully control fluid intake (because of his kidney function).
Still teary now.. Going back in later with OH and really hoping Rhys is awake so we can play and do something fun..
Sorry to be so down.. so much for me being the upbeat one!0 -

Elle....why did she think he would never be able to breastfeed? Did she not think his sucking relex would develop? Sorry to ask stupid questions cause thats obviously what she meant but Rose was born at 31 + 6 and she breastfed from 10 days old.
I know Rhys has had more problems but im interested as to why she said this. Also when I tried it at first and they were tube feeding her, they had a calculation depending on how long she sucked for as to whether they toped up her feed or not.
Good luck and i hope he proves her wrong!!DS Anthony Steven 07.06.92DD Becky Emma 24.01.94DD Rose Grace Jean 12.05.090 -
Oh elle, I'm sorry hun, but you can still express for him for a while and try again later if you really wanted to. Give yourself tonight to think about it and ask to speak to someone tomorrow
