what's teething powder?
Powders for teething, hang on Celia's got good at crawling and she's wandered off to eat some fluff off the floor, oh no, it's a duck it's ok, where was I, teething powders...
I know a good few people swear by Ashton And Parsons but I found Nelsons Teetha (Well, the Boots own brand version, they're the same things!) work better for Celia, they're generally calming. I don't give her them very often though... hang on, escapee.... today's most used sign 'don't touch', er where was I...
oh yes, I don't give them to her very often as they contain lactose and she's got a dairy allergy but they do work.

I need some kind of lead for the child, either that or I need to clean...Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -

Oh, I haven't said.. Rhys breastfed for about 30mins of decent effort in 90mins of being held yesterday afternoon. Plenty of faffing about then he got the hang of it then wailed anytime I moved - he wasn't sucking at the time, just lying there. Seemed to doze off then I gave him his dummy instead and he screamed the place down when he let go and it fell on the floor
Going to have another try this morning if he's awake
His grasping of things is coming on too. My boobs are covered in scratch marks; he was holding a muslin whilst feeding; grabbing at my top; reaching for his play gym and holding his own dummy in yesterdayFew days ago, he spent the whole day with his hand over his face, touching his eyes then nose then mouth.. so cute!
Clever boy Rhys!(and clever Mummy too). My chest looks like i've been attacked by a mad cat - covered in little scratches where she likes to hang on while she's feeding.
Yup, got the Bounty bag but no Dettol spray in there - seem to remember a money off voucher for it instead
I don't think we got Dettol - but we got a mini Cif Antibac spray and voucher.Powders for teething, hang on Celia's got good at crawling and she's wandered off to eat some fluff off the floor, oh no, it's a duck it's ok, where was I, teething powders...

I swore by Aston and Parsons with DD1 - didn't know there were other brands, i'll try them when I need them this time.
:rotfl:at Celia! Its so funny when they start to move! Its so much easier when you can put them in one place and they're still there when you get back. Violet is rolling onto her tummy at every opportunity now - but hasn't figured out how to roll back, so goes onto her tummy, then screams because she doesn't like it. Also, i put her in her cot last night in the usual position, when we woke at 4 , she was the opposite way round and on her tummy!
Today I WILL list the baby stuff on ebay! Need to up my June total, and try and make it more than April & May.:beer:0 -

what's teething powder?
i dont use a changing bag, i got a big handbag with two sections in it and one is for me, the other is for seth! seths side has a change of clothes, travel mat, spare nappies, nappy bags, muslins, wipes and a spare dummy. also if he's going to be due a feed while i'm out a bottle. he has toys on his car seat and buggy. i dont bother with the hand gel as if theres no handwashing facility i just use a baby wipe, and i dont bother with wiping down the baby change units as i just put the travel mat down and then wash it at home. always carry spare carrier bags, they are invaluable for putting a dirty changing mat and dirty clothes in!
a tip for anyone that might be interested, i've got the TT closer to nature bottles and find them very leaky, i bought some tesco basic sandwich bags for 30p and when i go out i tie the bottle up in one, stops me getting milk leaked all over my bag!Mummy to

I had to give 6 formula feeds at one point because I couldn't keep up with the 1200ml he wanted a day, but I now feed him completely and have 4000ml in the freezer!

ooooh Celia did that for ages, it bloody hurt, now she just grabs my breast and rams it in her mouth which isn't brilliant fun but better than the scratching!Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -

what's teething powder?
I swear by Ashton & Parsons powders. They are a homeopathic remedy (tincture of metricuria if I remember right). We did try the Nelsons but they were more expensive and didn't seem as good. We started Imogen with them quite early so by 6-9 months she'd happily open her mouth to take one (much to the jealous disgust of other mums who had to force theirs down!). We used them up until a few months ago as they do have a calming effect as well as seeming to relieve the pain.
Elle - Rhys really sounds like he's coming along. Hope the trip to Nottingham goes okay. When we sterilised on holiday I bought a big tupperware-type container which we used to contain all of the bottles, teats, dummies etc and which was also used to actually do the sterilising. Sounds similar to what you're thinking?
I can help with getting rid of ice cream if anyone has a surplus. My sweet tooth is still on overdrive (it's the baby you understand )MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Hi everyone, i've not posted sice the pregnancy forum but here i am with a bit of a dilemma!! I have a 15 week old baby girl whom i have almost exclusively breast fed apart from the odd bottle if i took her to work (i work with lots of men who would feel very uncomfortable if i got my baps out!!) anyway at about week 10 she decided she couldn't use a bottle! I cancelled my first outing to Oasis
and bought every bottle suggested on the web but still no luck.
I'm quite happy to continue breastfeeding but i ventured out for 4 hours last friday to watch boyzone and i returned to a distressed daddy and baby. I feel awful for him that i'm the only one who can settle her and that he can't have any special time with her (nor can i have a break).
Any suggestions? i'm also getting very aware that i will be returning to work in 3 months and want to be comfortable leaving her.
Any advice would be fab!! xxxLove being a mummy
