Also, we have a mini steriliser pot (water and Milton) under his cot where his dummies are stored - has to have a dummy to practise his sucking and swallow reflexes. I'm thinking of taking a small lock&lock container for this instead.. Good idea? Also was thinking about my pump (Medela Swing) - how do I keep that sterile if I need to use it whilst I'm out?

Oh, I'm such an amateur :o These were the things I was supposed to Google between week 31 and 40! :(

Does the Swing not come with covers? My Isis did, for transport. All the other bits I needed to cart up and down the motorway, I had a big secure tub to atore it in. If you've got any spare bits for pump, take them. I once dropped a valve and sat there crying for 15 minutes desperate for the steriliser to hurry up. In the end, I had three sets of everything, plus a spare manual pump, and carted it all round with me! Spare batteries are a good idea, plus milton wipes and somethingt to put the parts on - I was woried about touching thebottom of the bottle on the table, then touching pump. I was a bit over the top at first. The symphony onlyy need sterlising once a day, but I still do it every time in between.

Has anyone mentioned breastpads or shells? I leak a lot when singtle pumping.

You could get a few spare parts for the pump, and take them in a sterile box in future? Do you use personal fit bits with the swing?

Nope, no covers with the Swing. I've got a big cold water steriliser at the hospital and one at home so I just put everything back in there until the next time I need it - don't go anywhere except the hospital and home! I'm thinking maybe a bigger lock&lock container with the water in too

Breastpads come under "essentials when getting dressed" - as essential as pants! I do have shells too but didn't get on too well with them. Come to think of it, much fetch them home from the hospital steriliser pot..

Another big box sounds like a good idea, as long as you've got the space in the car! They do do cleaning wipes for medela products, but I imagine you've got stricter rules about sterilising?

Oh, they sound good! Even if I use them then the hospital don't agree and I have to dump the milk, that's what I'll do - if the hospital don't have a fit, then it's a bonus to keep the milk. Ha, look at me saying that - would have collapsed in a heap this time last week at the suggestion of wasting milk! :o Rhys won't be fed what I express tomorrow straight after expressing it as he has to have things added to his milk first.. hmm, best add a cool bag to the list too! Good job OH has an estate!

ETA: Any ideas what the delivery time is like from expressyourselfmums? Or if they sell the wipes in Boots stores?

You can pa extra for nextday delivery, or normal delivery is reasonable. All my orders have been dispatched the same day.

Funny how things change isn't it? I had to give 6 formula feeds at one point because I couldn't keep up with the 1200ml he wanted a day, but I now feed him completely and have 4000ml in the freezer!

Best eat some more icecreamm to make space for milk!

ETA - I've neer seen th wipes in a 'real' shop.

    LOL, fab space-making theory!

elle - have you had your Bounty pack from the hospital yet? There's a mini Dettol spray in there, that I've kept in the baby changing bag. It's handy for wiping the changing mat down, especially if they've had an accident on it! You can top it up from a big Dettol bottle too.

If public changing facilities look a bit grubby, I give them a wipe down with Dettol before I use them.

A pack of travel tissues is handy for wiping with, and for various leaks and spillages!
Here I go again on my own....

Yup, got the Bounty bag but no Dettol spray in there - seem to remember a money off voucher for it instead :)

Oh, I haven't said.. Rhys breastfed for about 30mins of decent effort in 90mins of being held yesterday afternoon. Plenty of faffing about then he got the hang of it then wailed anytime I moved - he wasn't sucking at the time, just lying there. Seemed to doze off then I gave him his dummy instead and he screamed the place down when he let go and it fell on the floor :o

Going to have another try this morning if he's awake :)

His grasping of things is coming on too. My boobs are covered in scratch marks; he was holding a muslin whilst feeding; grabbing at my top; reaching for his play gym and holding his own dummy in yesterday :) Few days ago, he spent the whole day with his hand over his face, touching his eyes then nose then mouth.. so cute!

elle - it sounds like he is really coming along :) I love how you can see different things every day they are learning to do :)

We bought a not-a-bumbo yesterday, which she loves - am now trying to find a tray for it online.

Oh - Izzy ate a rice cake by herself yesterday (well, half of one anyway!) before I'd had to put it into her mouth for her, but yesterday I put it in her hand, and after a few false starts she got it int her mouth :)
