Afternoon all,
Congrats to all the newbies (sorry if its a bit latebut been busy at work lately).
Quick question, OH has decorated Lo's room ready for him to move in so we can get the other room ready for new arrival in December. When we move him in do you think it would be better to put his cot in so he has some consistancy/comfort or start him off in his bed straight away? And when can he have a duvet? Is 20 months too early?
I would like to get this and nappy training out of the way as soon as so it will be easier when LO comes along
Also on subject of nurseries from quite a few pages back, henry has been attending since he was 5 months old. We looked at the Ofsted reports for the local places but we had also attended anti natal classes there as well so knew it was quite good.Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -

Two different people told me I looked tired today... The newborn baby and the husband that wakes me up 30 minutes after I fall asleep to tell me he's put some washing on and loaded the dishwasher probably has something to do with that!
Have a medal Mr Krystal! Oh !!!!!!! Poor you.feelinggood wrote: »Well, it has now been a full week of breastfeeding!Hiya
I'm wondering if someone in here can give me some advice. My 5 month old son has suddenly decided he prefers bottles to the breast and will now scream if trying to breast feed him but loves the bottle?!! Complete opposite to he has been previously! I really want to continue to breast feed him and am not convinced I'd get the time to express all day to give him expressed milk. Any suggestions gratefully received. I've spent the whole morning trying to feed him and have lots of screaming
Moiramber - I had exactly this with Imogen at around the same time. I don't really have any advice, but can relate to how you are feeling. I felt like I'd 'failed' at BF, despite having done it for around 18 weeks. Have a dodgy hug :grouphug:
Maz - when we moved Imogen we did everything all at once so it was one change instead of a series of changes. We made a massive fuss about Imogen going in her 'big girl's bed' (which was a new single - she'd been in her cotbed for the previous 9 months). Imogen had a duvet at 15 months when she went into a cotbed. We got a cheap duvet, pillow and mattress protector set from Asda for about £10. We started with the pillow for a week or so before the move was made completely, then added the duvet. HTH?
DH is working today. The overtime will be nice, but it's meant I had to take Imogen to ballet instead of having my usual lie-in and I'm knackered. He won't be home until 4pm and then my dad's on a flying visit as my grandad's in hospital and he needs a bed for the night.
Luckily Imogen's asleep (and has been since 12.45ish :T) so I've been able to have a nap and chill out. Am on my 2nd load of washing, 1st is drying on the line. And I've promised we can bake a cake when madam gets up. OH's notes mention phantom pregnancy but we figure it's so obviously incorrect that we haven't bothered about that.

We've had no problems with Violet, she'll take anything offered to her! But Liv wouldn't take a bottle, until we wrapped her in the t-shirt i'd been wearing all day - so she got the smell of me while she drank the bottle!feelinggood wrote: »Does anyone have any experience of pod coffee machines like the Tassimo and Senseo?
We have a Tassimo Feelie - Its very good, if you like your coffee. I mostly drink tea, and the Twinnings tea discs are good - but its hard to find who sells them. Asda/Tesco/Somerfield have a limited selection of discs, Sainsburys tend to have more. OH usually does a big order every now and again from Tassimo online as they have the best selection and can be cheaper too.:beer:0 -
Hiya
Thanks for the advice. I managed to get him to get him to have 1 good feed from me today:T but I was singing twinkle twinkle the whole time lol:rolleyes:. He came on and off loads and it took a good half an hour at least but he seemed to do a good job on it as I expressed after and only got 1oz, I only feed with one side and have previously got 9oz from this side and it was very full so I know he had alot. I completely agree being stressed about it makes it ten times worse. I'll try again tommorrow to breastfeed and see how we go. I'm going to put the size 1 teats back in his bottles so its not quite so nice to feed from them. Babies are such hard work aren't they!:rotfl:♥ Mummy to a gorgeous little boy born 11/01/09 ♥0 -
I'm not keen on Tassimo etc., as you're stuck buying their pods/capsules with a limited selection and they set the prices. If you get a normal coffee filter you can use any ground coffee you like or any beans if you buy a grinder! I like trying different blends and coffee beans.
Having a rare night out tonight! Mystery shopping a casino later and we have to have a meal there. Parents were taking the bairns to a friends BBQ party this afternoon and have taken them to spend the night at their static caravan and will bring them back around 5pm tomorrow. The peace and quiet has been lovely this afternoon, but I'm really missing them
Had a text from James to say the party was excellent and Charlotte loved the bouncy castle. He's videoed it for me on his mobile phone. Here I go again on my own....0 -
OH usually drinks instant coffee, but I was thinking about a Tassimo so he can have a coffee in bed in the morning before getting up! He hates getting out of bed, thought it might help.
Moiramber - well done on a good feed today. I agree with Krystal about the skin-to-skin. My circumstances were a bit different, but I found lots of cuddles without pressure made a big difference for us. I think sticking to newborn teats is a good idea. One thing I was advised against is giving too much in a bottle - supposedly if they get used to having too much in one go, they aren't satisfied with the breast. I'm not sure if that would apply to an older baby like yours. Best of luck with it, hope it goes okay tomorrow.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0
