In a completely not asking for medical advice kinda way...my coccyx began hurting when I was pregnant (quite early on if anyone remembers I was sat on a gymball at my desk at work...) It stopped when I got heavily pregnant but since I have given birth it really hurts again  I struggle to change position when I have been sat down for just a few minutes.

I am fed up of saying 'oh god my poorly bum-bone' do you think I should go to the doctor
Either that, or talk to your midwife if you are still seeing her. (Sorry, I can't keep tabs on how old everyone's babies are to know if that's likely or not!)

If you're still seeing the midwife, they may have more clout in referring you to an obstetric physio, if that's necessary. No idea if it will be, and no idea what's wrong, but whatever it is, it isn't right, is it?

elle -- so grateful for your updates about rhys. he is such an inspiration (as are you) and such a fighter.

are you including oats in your diet to help with your milk. i am thinking of doing this.

AF, there's always that phone number in Krystal's signature - they have people who come out to see you at home, don't they? Plus are booby clubs (looks at me with the lingo! :o) run by the hospital midwives? They are probably different people to the hospital ones and they won't know what went on in hospital unless you tell them. Obviously I've not been, but do you even have to give your name at them so that they could look you up on the systems or are they all fairly casual and anonymous?

I'm not eating oats particularly, just the odd flapjack as a snack. Will do moreso when we get home and I can make twinks hobnobs again! :D All the midwives and support people have mentioned them to me though - they say there's no official research into it but a lot of people say they help so it's worth a shot :) (any excuse for hobnobs! ;))

Have you tried different positions like lying down or rugby ball hold? Sometimes they're a bit easier to sustain... With the cross cradle hold it is easy for them to slip after a while if you are supporting all their weight, they get heavy and your arms drop a little, or you end up hunched over them a little to give your arms a break... You're right about the clicking being a good indicator that the latch isn't quite right, it means your nipple is not far enough into her mouth... I hope you get lots of good support and information at booby group :)
I bought three value pillows form Tesco for that reason. We even used to take them to church with us for the first few months. I don't know how people manage to do it with just their arms.

Even if you can't get whatever it is removed, you should be able to have a note of your own added to it saying that you disagree/object. When we got life insurance, we got copies of our notes from our GP and mine said I'd had grommets when I was seven so I wrote to the doctor explaining that I'd never actually had them and they said they would change it. OH's notes mention phantom pregnancy but we figure it's so obviously incorrect that we haven't bothered about that.

    hi mel,

i am constantly surprised at how your little boy and my little girl seem to have the same ways.

my little one is doing the same thing but i must say has been doing so for some time now. it's just so upsetting seeing her sooooo tired and just not going off. she has even started to pinch now too.

i do not have a routine as such either and am happy to nurse her to sleep but it is always a struggle. trying to look into anything that can help
i just dont understand why they are so desperate to stay awake when they obviously need the sleep, they feel so much better afterwards! i have decided today that i'm not going to try and get him to sleep, just try and keep him amused and see if that helps  at my nans yesterday she was cuddling him and he just turned his head towards her, snuggled it in and dropped off  why are they always good for other people??

Congratulations MoneyMaker, love the name, hope he can come home soon.

Elle how lovely to be talking about Rhys coming home.

We don't have a booby club but we do have surestart centre, will have to pay more attention to the snacks, there were chocolate biscuits last time I think.

My big night out was lovely, but just ended up being me and three of my mummy friends in a kitchen drinking mojito's, it was only round the corner so I was able to stagger home at 1am this morning. OH fed an expressed bottle at 3 and I had to get up at 6 and sterilise the breastpump so I could express as had become very uncomfortable! Just getting ready for Millie's ballet class now, OH still in bed, clearly one night of getting up at 3 has done him in.

all the toys we've bought seth, and all he is interested in is a muslin square and a ring that holds the toys on his baby gym!! i'm sure come christmas he will only be interested in the boxes his toys come in

I mentioned my back to the Health Visitor and she said if it was no better at my 6 week check then to mention it to the nurse (which is odd cos I was expecting to see the Dr, but it's in a fortnight so we'll see who I get) I'm OK until I walk anywhere... Then when I sit down it all seizes up... Hubby asked why I was limping yesterday when I got up (It's been happening for months now!) I shouted 'cos of my broken ar5e' across the room in frustration...

Most booby groups are informal peer supporter led... Some of them have midwives or health visitor input too... Occaisionally there are ones in hospitals (like where I work) that are less like a group and more like medical assistance...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

feelie, where you are? You okay hun

I'm alright, just enjoying being able to spend all day on the sofa with the little one, instead of having to spend 40 minutes out of every 90 expressing, then sterilising and dividing milk up etc!

Well, it has now been a full week of breastfeeding!

Have the midwives mentioned about breastfeeding getting easier when he reaches his due date?

According to the scan, Toby was 39+3, but we are pretty sure he was an early baby. He had undescended testes, clampdown bite reflex, fur all over him, smaller than expected and makes typical preemie sleep noises. All things common in early babies, but not in fullterm ones. We just have the 11+5 scan to go off, with no date of last menstrual period, or date of conception. It was the midwife who originally asked if I'd got my dates wrong.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I just find it odd that we tried for weeks and weeks and he couldn't manage breastfeeding, then one day he latched on and it has now been a full week.

Anxiety still bad, decided to give myself a few weeks off. Next time I have to go out is in 4 weeks for his jabs, so until then I'm not going to force myself to do anything painful. The past 9 weeks have been so hard, I'm going to have a break and do lots of sleeping, lots of cuddling and lots of lying on the sofa doing nothing.

Have you sorted out a pump for at home? I'm pleased with the Symphony I rented from ExpressYourselfMums. If you do rent one, make sure you change the valves and membranes regulalry, it can make a big difference.

We had the weaning HV visit today and I feel capable and armed to commence the mission! Apparently as he's nearly 6m there will be lots more foods he can have as soon as we start so thats a bonus. I also asked her to weigh Poppy and she is 28lb and till on the very same percenile as when she was born :).
congrats on waiting! my friend had a 10lb 14lb-er at birth  he is 12 weeks old now and already weaned  apparantly his doctor agreed it was ok cos he was drinking 9oz every hour and a half!! she only feeds him jars though "but its ok cos they're hipp organic so they're good for him
