About parenting methods, I did what my Mum did - read every book going until you find one that agrees with everything you already think! I'm currently reading one by Hugh Jolly.
I think I pretty much follow the attachment parenting thing, with a bit of continuum concept thrown in.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
morning mel, feelie and all who follow!
emlou, glad you liked the washing tip, I felt a bit like a stepford wife posting it! We'll be telling each other about our perfect cakes next.
Lu, thanks for your thoughtful post.:D I think our professional backgrounds have a lot of influence over our first few years of parenting.
Sami, thanks that's really sweet! Um, ganged up on eh? Just you try it!;)
(actually don't I'm still a bit hormonal!). Is OH using the bank holiday to make some headway on project bedroom?
Please continue to send our love to Elle. I read up on vasa previa since reading her story.
Susan are you all packed up and unpacked? Hope it's gone wellRe: your comments about reading the nice guidelines, have you ever had a look at the bit where interested lay people suggest topics that aren't covered? I've been drafting a proposal for the interpartum care of women in premature labour, and one for the interpartum care of women following an interuterine death. They're very hot on topics which may have been clinically ignored due to 'health inequalities' and so you can make a big deal of how these are women's issues!
Anyhow, I'm enjoying the research, keeps my brain active!
Love to all,
have a great monday

I've got a very snotty LO today who I have to pin down to get her nose wiped she just hates it. No swimming lessons for her today.
Sami I love it.... A trip to Costco to see what they have this year I think is in order.Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -
Well I guess I ought to join the parenting threads now
Alexandra Rose was delivered by forceps on the 22/05 at 15:44 and we were finally released home yesterday at about 3pm (mainly due to my bloodloss - baby seems to be fine despite her distress during birth which caused the forceps delivery).
We're getting used to being the slaves of a little madam and just taking it all slowly at the moment. Midwife has been out today and seems happy with how she's doing - apparently they will be back in 2 days to check on us again.
Breastfeeding is hard work, especially on the nipples! As far as the MW can tell we're doing it right but it's still really sore so have decided to do a couple of days of 50/50 BF and expressing to give them a chance to recover - and have to say the £90 spent on the Medela breast pump is money well spent!
Think I'm going to send out the hubby to Tesco in a bit for a few bits and bobs whilst Roo and I have a nap - for some reason she's decided that day times are for sleeping and eating but night time is for fidgeting and cat napping and just not settling down at all... *sigh* oh well
Back later when we've had our snoozeDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -

Congrats Mrs Tine!
Hugs to Elle and Rhys. He's beautiful.
Accidental parenting- I did read Tracey Hogg's book. We've got our LO into all sorts of bad habits-i'm hoping they'll resolve themselves. I still put him in the sling to sleep. My back is killing me-but its the only way I can get him to sleep.0 -
Congrats MrsTine :-) I remember the day and night mix up well, lots and lots of light and noise in the daytime and dark and quiet at night and she'll work it out eventually :-)
Accidental parenting: a very wise friend once said to me "If it's not a problem for you it's not a problem" I've embraced that as my mantra!
Lwcus, what sling do you use? My wrap sling is very back friendly I can (and do!) carry Celia for hours without feeling the weight :-)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
Hi All!
It took me ages to catch up (7 pages in 3 days!!!) and now Benjamin is stirring so I will make it quick!
Sami - thanks for the message from elle...they will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
MrsT - congrats and welcome.
Feelie - well done you!! (I guess it should really be well done Toby!)
Happy Birthday Oz and Caz.
Congrats Nad!
Mel - glad you had a good concert. I just turn a blind eye when my mum or MIL babysit...as long as they are not doing any harm then let them get on with it.
Bluestone was fab, weather great, swimming fun, Benjamin was an angel, DSS was extremely well behaved as always, hubby relaxed for the first time in a while and I got to have a long bubble bath!!
Benjamin slept for 10 hours on Sat and 8 hours last night...lets hope that he continues that way...I think he would have slept for longer last night but the curtains were open a chink and the sun was shining directly into his carry-cot
Weezl / 3 (?) - will post about packing/travelling with baby and tell more about Bluestone later on...I have been driving for 4 hours today and I am pooped to say the least.
HUGS to all
