She's wrong. They can be used for anything which enables you to Keep In Touch. Try a google, can't find a link for you right now as DH is breathing down my neck for us to go out ...

BTW, we paid for some half days for someone, don't know if we were supposed to, but we did ...
    OK, I've found some links.

This is the official DWP link.

This is a form I found by googling Keeping In Touch days. Which I shall have to remember if anyone else gets pregnant at work ...

In either case it looks quite clear to me that going in to work for almost any reason apart from just showing off the new baby could be seen as a KIT day.

Oh, here's another interesting one: this lot don't pay you for your KIT days, but defer your return to work by the same number of days as you've taken.

my boss said if i get really skint i can go and do my KIT days so i guess you are meant to have them paid!
Oh yes, my point was that someone came in for a couple of hours, and we paid them for a full half day rather than just the time they were there. I'm just not sure if half days are part of the plan or not, but our payroll didn't query it.

Any tips for timezone changes? Going to California for 3 weeks on Wednesday, the 17 hours door to door will be bad enough with Elijah, but then I fear teaching him to adjust to pacific coast time!

  • Re Feeding: Toby hasn't had a bottle since 7:50am! That is almost 12 hours without a bottle! He has fed from me four times, slept well, had wet nappies and been happy and chatty! Don't know what has happened today, it just seems to have clicked. Fingers crossed we can keep it up.

I was catching up from Friday trying to remember what was going on and had to post. This made me cry. WELL DONE TOBY!!

Just caught up and you post THIS - I am SO jealous!!! We love the states but I have said we are not going til Benjamin is 1 (like that is gonna happen!!). I bought hubby a digital photo frame from Benjamin for his birthday and put on the tag that it was for daddy to share all his memories with B... We spent a few hours the other night putting photos on and it is fantastic - Benjamin is going to be bored stupid when he understands what we are rambling on about!! (£40 with 1GB of memory from Boots - absolute bargain!!)

Bruno - if he doesn't sleep well here you may find he is already on Pacific Coast Time!! Tell us more about where you are going!!

AF - tell your bl00dy HR director to take her finger out and find out about KIT days herself!!! I had to tell my (multinational) employer about them too!
Make sure you take them when you are on minimal pay though...otherwise you lose a day of 50% (or whatever).

Caz - I have nothing to add hun ((((HUGS)))

Feelie - you must be SO proud!

AM - can't believe you are back at work already - go you!!

    SO MANY CUTE KIDS!!!

    Weezl / Fritha :T:rotfl::rotfl::T

Tummy time - Benjamin is not great, I keep giving him a couple of minutes (when I remember :o) but as soon as he moans/gets tired I move him.

    MFD - I'm sure he'll turn 1 eventually! Give it time! :)

OH is from the Bay area outside San Francisco, so we're going to stay with her dad and show Elijah off to extended family and friends etc, bar taking a 3 day trip up the coast for a bit of luxury (albeit taking the baby with us!). I am very excited and I'm sure it will be great, but the long flight and journey, the time-shift, and also the fact that we just moved house this week and everything is still in boxes, mean a fair level of anxiety to overcome too :p

We did the digital frame thing with our parents, been a great hit!

Sausilito is one of my favourite places in the world...hubby promises that we will stay at the Inn Above Tide one day...and I WILL hold him to it!! Maybe for my 75th birthday!!

Hi Weezl, we do Tummy Time lots (with Mummy singing 'its tummy, its tummy time, he's a little boy with a lot to learn' a la Timmy Time! :o:rotfl:). We did it for little bursts a few times a day and gradually built the time up.

Which reminds me - when Benjamin is in the bath I have been singing 'Scrub, scrub, scrubbing in the tub' - and I had no idea where I had got it from...until I realised it was the advert with Wallace and Grommit in it, is it for British Gas??
