Well, I'm very happy to announce that Safeway paid me today.
For the first time I had a virtually smooth shop. I got the cashier to call the supervisor before the products went through the till rather than at the end (saves a little bit on the "holding-up-the-queue" factor as the customer behind doesn't seem to notice so much).
When the supervisor headed over i just said "vouchers" and she said "ok" (i think she recognised me from previous times ;D) and that was it.
My bill came to £11.38. I gave the cashier £11.40 in vouchers and he gave me 2p change. I did leave kicking myself for not giving him all 6 Durex vouchers so I could have had more change but you can't have everything ::) ;D0 -
;D
Wow Andrea, congratulations!
How are you guys managing to get so much off in vouchers, I usually get a few quid knocked off, but never as much as a tenner!Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0 -
Well, I go armed with a copy of Safeway's voucher policy for a start. Usually they don't want to know until I show them that and say their manager has a photocopy in the office (which he took a month or so ago).
As according to their policy they take 6 vouchers per manufacturer I go with 6 x Durex £2 vouchers and then 6 x each of any other voucher making sure they are as high denomination as I can find so that it doesn't take too long and i don't hold up the queue.
This is the second time i've been shopping this week. On Wednesday I got a £24 bill cut down to £1.39 ;D
Give it a go. If you're not easily embarrassed its well worth the effort.
Also, i've found keeping a couple of vouchers to give to the person behind me in the queue is quite beneficial as it keeps them sweet if the cashier doesn't call a supervisor straight away and I have to wait.0 -
A quick pointer to anyone else also using vouchers in Safeway. Someone on another forum i've just been reading has been told by the manager of their Safeway that there are to be some changes to their voucher policy in March. She doesn't say whether this relates just to her local store or company-wide.0

O dear
Andrea you best make daily visits every day til then armed with plenty of vouchers and stock up on all those things that do not perish for ages ie soap powder, cleaning products, tinned products etc etc.
if I could but find a Safeway that took a blind bit of notice of the copy policy I go armed with I would be doing this.
Did this at Tesco til the store decided 3rd off bill only
I was going all out for an overal years reduction to our shopping bill of 50%. We are at 40% at the moment since middle of October but judging by the reaction of stores we have been visiting this figure could plummet :P
Oh well nearly £250 paid for in coupons since October better than nothing
Cheers

Durex is listed under the health and beauty section.

CORRECTION TO ANDREAS POST
The £2 vouchers come on the medium sized boxes.
£5 off the large ones
£10 off the extra large size
For some reason, my fiancee only buys the boxes for me with the 1 pence coupon.
Not to worry I thinks - size does not matter ;D
