logically the cost of checking in should be included in the fare considering it is a mandatory part of the flight? the EU has already warned Ryanair as part of the hidden charges investigation but this will surely warrant a further look see?

Ryan Air are the master of the legal 'what you thought we said and what we actually meant' speak.

If you travel a lot (like at least once a month) then it may be worth getting the electron card just for Ryan Air Bookings.

I think people are well wise to their not-so-subtle practises by now (and the EU law makers certainly are) so it won't be long before we actually see Ryan Air prices for what they are - OKish, not great.

my apologies, didn't realise it had been raised before.

no need to apologise, I hope I didn't come across as snooty.

I just wanted to point out that the statement had been on the Ryanair website for some time. ;)

"Ryanair are to cut the number of flights into Newquay Airport from Stansted in protest at the Cornwall council's new passenger surcharge. The airline says it will drop 12 flights a week to the southwest claiming the £5 per person charge is an ‘anti-visitor’ tax."

Hmmm.... when Newquay airport charged a new £5 tax to develop their airport that was an unacceptable assault on passengers. But in 2009 when Ryanair charge all their passengers an extra £5 for online check-in to save themselves money on employing real live staff this of course somehow a benefit to their passengers.

I guess I'll have to cancel that now as there is no way on earth I am ever flying with Ryanscare again. I will happily pay more to competitors who understand that good customer service does not mean mugging them with a false smile and fraudulent prices where the hidden fees quadruple the advertised price

    You're welcome to.

But do Ryanair one small favour and check the punctuality and baggage loss percentages before you do. You might just be unpleasantly surprised to discover that you'll be paying more for a worse service.

    They are (they're)

The books are sitting just there on the floor.

I recently booked flights for my family of 6 to go to France and was charged £10 per person for paying by Switch!! How is this fair when it is only 1 transaction not 6!? I understand that if you pay by credit card there maybe a small charge but surely a debit card is free to use!

Ryanair charges for using debit/credit cards has been widely debated on here.
I'm personally not going to get involved in (yet another) discussion on the fairness of it or whether it's legal. However, you may well get other members who will state their opinions - both for and against.
And no, as far as Ryanair are concerned, a debit card is not free to use.

The charge is £5 per person per sector and is detailed on Ryanair's website along with other charges they levy.
One way to avoid the charges is to use a Visa Electron card.
You can find out how to get one by using the 'search' facility.

You got any proof that has ever happened? I doubt very very much you have. By buying a 1p flight you still have entered into a contract with the airline. No matter what the cost.

I will keep on defending Ryanair because if you follow the instructions and stick to their rules which isn't too difficult, there is no other airline to touch them on price and punctuality.

I agree Driver - some people don't bother to read stuff properly.
I have had superb service from Ryanair and can't fault a single thing.

There was thread on her last year about a party of guys that had exactly that happen to them. I have been trying to find it but am having no joy.
As for punctuality, there has been research done that shows RA add on average 15 minutes to the time that most other airlines add to the time that a particular journey takes. that is how they manage to be so punctual. And as for price, i can often find prices much cheaper with other airlines, even legacy ones, for my specific needs. I.E. 2 people traveling with 2 pieces of luggage each for a 2 week holiday to a place that most holiday makers actualy want to go to.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Baggage loss statistics have nothing to do with RA, that is purley to do with ground handling, and as for punctuality, see post above. BTW, you are not O'Learys love child by any chance.
