Hi, I completed a degree a while ago that comes under the 2006-2011 bracket for when I started and am starting another degree this September. My question is whether the my first loan will still be written off after 25 years from when I graduated, or will the two loans be 'joined' and therefore the total amount for both written off after 30 years from when I graduate from the second degree. I hope that makes sense? Thanks.0

I wonder if anyone could advise us. My husband is wanting to apply for teacher training in 2013. He will be 38yrs we have 3 children and I earn £23,000 per year. Does anyone know what support financially we could possibly get. We have been looking but getting confused. We just want to start planning our finances now as he will be giving up work to do this. Some rough figures would be great
Thanks in advance0 -

He will be entitled to a Student Loan and Maintenance Grant, plus possibly a bursary depending on his degree classification and subject, but 2013's are not published yet. You can calculate these on the Student Finanace web page calculator and there is guidance here

You should get some Tax Credits - call them and get an estimate.
You may also get PLA and help with childcare from Student Finance but they depend on outgoings as well as incommings and I have no idea what the calculation is, sorry."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." After some advice:
I am 26 yrs old married with one child (another on way), both husband and I work full time. I earn less than 21k hubby earns more than 21k.
Im about to start a Distance Learning course with Manc Uni.
I've applied for student finance england, but wont hear anything off them for sometime.
What are the chances of me getting a student loan for my course, would I be best off sticking with student finance england or should I try anywhere else for student loans.
Any advice welcomed.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -
Does previous part-time study reduce tuition fee loans?
In the mid-90's I did a social science foundation course with the Open University. I then chose not to study any further at that time.
In 2009 I started a (funded) part-time law degree with the OU. I passed the first module and received an OU Certificate of Legal Study. I failed the second module on the course and withdrew from the degree.
I now have the chance to do a science access course at a local college, with completion meaning I could apply for full-time science at a bricks-and-mortar university in September 2013.
SFE have told me I will/won't/will/won't qualify for tuition fee loans if I go to university in 2013.
For guidance, I took a look at the tuition fee loan application form for 2012/13 and section 5(a4) says not to mention part-time courses where a qualification wasn't achieved.
As I have done 3 previous academic years of OU study, will I lose 3 years of tuition fee loans, or does my previous study not count for some reason?0 -
Depends on the classification of the previous awards. Was it a CertHE?0

If you'll be studying a qualifying course and you haven't studied at this level before then acceptance for a fee loan is automatic.0 -
Hi Taiko,
From what I can see on the OU website, their CertHE requires 120 credits to be studied within a seven year period. The two courses I passed (60 credits each) were taken more than seven years apart so can't be combined for the qualification.
As far as I can tell, I don't have a CertHE.0 -

How do you know whether it's a 'qualifying' course? Wheres the list of what courses qualify?
