    Hi Taiko,

From what I can see on the OU website, their CertHE requires 120 credits to be studied within a seven year period. The two courses I passed (60 credits each) were taken more than seven years apart so can't be combined for the qualification.

As far as I can tell, I don't have a CertHE.

Should be fine then for full support. There's a part in the regs that states that a part time course previously studied but not giving an HE qualification isn't to be counted in the previous study calculations.
  • Thanks for the info
  • Hiya, I have just been accepted into college to study a full time HNC. I was at uni previously and was funded for 1 year, then dropped out. Does anyone know if this will affect my chances of getting course fees paid and a student loan?
Is there anything else i could apply for? My partner works full time and we have a 1 year old son who will be in nursery when i am at college.
    Thankyou for any help x

Just wondered if anyone can help. My nephew has been awarded a place for his teaching degree, but missed the deadline for his funding. IS there any other options open to him to get funding?
Thanks He is 27 by the way

Where's the funding coming from? I know with SFE you can apply late, the deadline is only an "if you want your money at the start of the first term" kind of deadline ...
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • I wonder if anyone can help me i finished my degree in 2010 and for about a year i have been making repayments as i was earning 21k before tax. I am now returing to uni to do a masters but have been able to get a casual job which is paid at £6.70 and hour, will i still have to make repayments because ive already earnt over the freshhold this year or will the repayments stop now that im earning less?
  • I sent some financial evidence off a couple of weeks ago to prove eligibility for the Maintenance Loan (late due to rigmarole with DWP who had not passed on the details of my benefits to HMRC, apparently this is shockingly common!) and Student Finance apparently have not received it yet :O Is it likely that they have got it, it's just not got into the system yet if that makes sense? According to the person I called about it, there's a 4 week backlog at the moment!

Mate there is always a backlog.

I probably sent mine at the same time of yours and the evidence will just be sat in a pile in one of the offices somewhere, until they have cleared the 'backlog'.

Every year they have a backlog, I just can't understand why they don't just employ more staff.
  • And be warned, 'haven't received it yet' could mean that it wasn't what they wanted, so they have just ignored it and sent you a letter saying they haven't received it.

I am convinced it is staffed by robots with not an ounce of common sense between them. I sent 4 council tax letters to show my single parent status, and kept getting told they hadn't received them so I kept sending more. Turns out because I had circled the 25% discount in pen, they weren't accepting it, and were just sending me another letter to say they hadn't received it. And no one there is allowed to make outgoing calls, ( apart from the complaints dept) so you will never find out what's the matter unless you ring them.

( Can you tell I'm a bit fed up with them at the moment?)

You realise the letters are automated, right? SFE have a couple hundred staff, to deal with several hundred thousand applications.
