For satellite use, you need the FoxsatHD, the first one is a Freeview Receiver/Recorder, so no good for your requirements.

    Hope that helps.. ;)

thanks alot its the FOXSATHD then at £89.

im not a techno so this has been a great help. cheers for your advise!!!

You connect the box to a satellite feed some boxes like the Humax HDR require to work best with two feeds (twin LNB)

You can then get SD and HD channels. There is BBC HD, BBC 1 HD and ITV HD plus lots more SD channels. You can record two channels at once with that box and no subscription

You will need to use existing cables that go to dish. If you have sky+ there should be two just take them out of sky+ box and plug into new box. If you only have a sky box not sky+ and you want to record one thing and watch another you will need to run another cable from dish to new box and depending on what type of LNB you have on dish you might need a new LNB.
  • thanks, i think thats clearer, i was thinking i had to run cables to the dish not just use what is there and connect to new box, thats simple enough, i have a sky+hd box so should be simple i guess. So all i need to get is a hd recordable freesat box

Humax are selling Grade A Foxsat HDR's direct on their website. A good deal for a quality product.

All above is correct, just to add that your Sky+ is probably connected to your TV via SCART. Connect the Humax via HDMI lead for an HD picture to be possible. Mine came with an HDMI lead.
