As fifeken says, you won't get your fees back now.

I think the important thing to remember when booking flights (and you DID say that you were 'quite rushed') is to check exactly how much it's going to cost IN TOTAL, then consider whether the flights are as convenient as other airlines (departure/arrival airports, flight times), whether you're likely to want to change aspects of the flights booked in the future, how you'll be looked after (or not) in the event of the flight being cancelled.....before you book.

You may feel 'cheated' but you've not actually been 'robbed'.

I've just booked a holiday for 7 of us (four adults, two children and a baby) and I'm STAGGERED by how much the fees have gone up.

Why? They're a private business and can charge what they like.
I'm not a complainer but I've never felt so shafted in all my life. I could cry. I was booking as a surprise for my husband and quite rushed but many of the fees are unavoidable now - ESPECIALLY IF YOU TRAVEL WITH CHILDREN.

That's your choice. Most, if not all Ryanair fees are very avoidable.
The fee for the baby was £40, £20 for a car seat, and he has to sit on my lap with no luggage!

You don't have to fly Ryanair. If you don't like the fact that they charge 40 pounds for this, then you can fly with someone else.
My flights were £87Taxes and fees £270
TOTAL BOOKING CAME TO £688 - THAT'S £300 OF RYAN AIR CHARGES I COULDN'T AVOID.

Of course you could avoid them. For a start, you didn't have to fly with them. I'd say that getting convenient flights for a family of 7 for less than 700 pounds isn't a bad deal at all. Try getting the same deal on BA or Altalia, then come back.
Like many posters, i always accepted Ryanair's charging policy and felt it was quite fair - it was possible with carry on luggage etc to travel very cheaply.
THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE.

It is still the case. I manage to fly to the UK quite frequently and never pay many of the charges. Why? Because I attempt to book promotional fares where I can, I utilise online checkin, I make sure that I comply with their requirements, I use a Visa Electron card and I don't check baggage into the hold. Et voila, no charges.
I paid £60 to book using my Visa DEBIT card - unavoidable as I don't do credit and honestly I can't believe this isn't criminal. £60 to process one payment??????

Why is it criminal? You have the choice - you can pay 60 pounds in debit card charges to fly with them, or pay considerably less charges and pay more in total to fly with BA. It's your choice.
£60 for online check-in when I KNOW I said no during the booking process.
Sorry for the long post, but I'll NEVER use them again and implore others to do the same. I honestly think the Irishman has gone mad.

The same Irishman is on track to make a profit this year, whereas BA have just lost nearly half a billion pounds. As for online check-in, it's unavoidable now, unless you are savvy enough to book promotional fares.
I will go back and try to undo some of the fees I can live without, but I'm sure it won't be allowed.
Saved £700 on the villa though, :T so it's not about the money - I felt cheated and actually robbed. I've honestly never felt so UPSET by a company.

If you didn't like it, you had the option to say 'NO' to the charges. They're all listed quite clearly and openly on the website, and you would've been informed as to the total amount that your card would be debited. You're right, it won't be allowed - but Ryanair informed you fairly and openly about just what you would be charged.

As always, it's a loophole when it goes your way and a RIPOFF SCAM when it doesn't.
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)
    sitting on the floor.
    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.
