Do you mean that the money moves from your Barclay's a/c to your Halifax a/c straight away?

If so the difference with Nationwide, is that they are not a clearing bank, so payments have to be sent to a clearing bank first.

Yes that is what i mean, tranferred money on xmas eve checked later same day & it was in the easycash account.
  • Bumping this - you have to wonder about the timings of the article considering the context of the news today.

I could point out BA's 'dirty tricks' against Virgin, where they used their position in the 'good lads club' to attempt to put out bad stories in order to scare customers off.

At least they have been more careful about it this time - Eddington doesn't even work for them no more, but the example cited for comparison is so far-fetched to be unbelievable - I reckon maybe 1 in 1000 (or less) passengers would travel in that configuration. I can even imagine the journo planning this in her head.... 'Oh no, Ryanair are cheaper, let's add luggage... no, still cheaper, ok, let's add another luggage, damn, it's still cheaper. I know, let's add some golf clubs. Sorted. It's looks good, and I didn't have to use Plan B which involved one of the kids needing to take a musical instrument on holiday.'

Virgin was slightly different though, as they were competing in the same market, whereas Ryanair is in a different market segment. But, with BA wanting to take 'significant steps' toward improving their budget offerings, I expect that they will be taking a more Ryanair-esque approach to things; less staff, less routes, and perhaps less thrills.

You can see that maybe in the past, BA treated Ryanair with the deference of someone swatting away a fly. But, with the decline in premium traffic, that fly has turned into a monster. They feel threatened, and I suspect that there will be some good deals on BA this year.

Now, no-one is denying that Ryanair offer an inferior service - my contention is that it isn't by much as I have little demand for the 'frills', but I can perfectly understand why people have a different view. But, this is a money saving site, after all. Ostensibly, for the cost of one return flight on BA, you could have maybe five or six on Ryanair. Depends on how you value things.
Having a assigned seat? It's nice.
Having a sandwich? It's ok, as long as they're not prawn.
Drinking a kids-size can of coke? I can pass.
Seeing as many foreign places as time/money allows? Priceless.

I'm surprised Ryanair haven't charged for the safety briefing yet!

I wouldn't fly Ryanair as I have a conscience, they treat their staff abominably, no better than Chinese sweatshop labourers. And to say they could get a job elsewhere in the present economic climate... it's a dog that won't hunt.

So thank you yes, I will fly with another airline where the clientelle are not unwashed students or council house tenants, even if it does cost more.

How dare you? I fly Ryanair regularly and i am neither an unwashed student or a council house dweller. I am an home owner and earn significantly more than the national average wage but why squander it on other airlines when Ryanair are punctual and cheap.

What perverse pleasure do you get from coming on forums which aim to provide a service and actually help people to save money and make comments like that?

You go and waste your money on other airlines and leave the cheap flights for people who actually use them. By the end of September i will have flown ten times with Ryanair this year alone, i very much doubt you have the time, money and inclination to be able to do that.

Go to another forum where your derogatory remarks may be welcome but they are certainly not welcome on here. Go to a forum where children can post childish remarks like the one you submitted on here that may suit you.

Relax, I didn't attack you directly, did I? I just have problem with an airline that treats it's employees not much better than a chinese sweatshop. If it's ok for the people responsible for your safety when you're 30000 ft in the air to be treated like that, then frankly, you can think about me what you want.*shrugs*

Thats a very snobbish comment, i dought you would need to fly ryanair as they dont do places like Mauritius or Barbados. If you haven't flown with them how do you know how they treat their staff?, I like the fact that i can get to a lot of Europe for a little money. A lot of "corporate" shareholders would like to see the back of Ryanair, just as they tried to force out Easyjet (& managed it with Laker airways) so they could get better dividends from BA. If they had been successful us commoners would still not be able to fly very often.
  • Old_motters, I suppose this 'conscience' means that you don't use most of the consumer electronics or clothes produced in China?

Or do you vet the working conditions of the employees of every purchase that you make?

    It's like this:

Sometimes I buy Tesco value stuff like tomatoes. It does the job. Not quite as well as the finest, but the price means I don't mind a little less quality, as I can spend the difference on other ingredients that have more impact. Tomatoes don't make the dish, just like the flight doesn't make the holiday.

Too many people want their cake and eat it, so to speak.

Also, the attitude of some people is strange. If you don't ike Ryanair, you don't have to fly it. It's like going into tescos, seeing the value tomatoes, and whinging to everyone that Tesco are selling value tomatoes.

Different price points exist for almost every product (apart from those in monopolistic industries). If it wasn't Ryanair, there would be another carrier doing the same thing - going for the absolute lowest cost. That's business, and I can't see how you get so many customers (and repeat customers) by not being satisfactory. No-one forces you to fly an airline.

You see some people's posts and wonder if O'Leary has broken into their house and crapped on their bed or something. If that is the case, then I apologise.

Actually, you DID attack ANYONE who travels Ryanair.
If you had said MOST or SOME of the clientele, that may have been more accurate (and less offensive).

Like Driver8, I am neither an unwashed student nor a council house tenant.
What a sweeping statement you have made there!
    Not all students are unwashed.
And just what is wrong with council house tenants?

I would be very interested in reading proof to back up your statements:
they treat their staff abominably, no better than Chinese sweatshop labourers. I just have problem with an airline that treats it's employees not much better than a chinese sweatshop.
