Elephant were really expensive - about £1000.
And I tried adding my mum to the rac (53, no claims) and the price went up slightly. I've noticed that sometimes the price goes up, sometimes it goes down.0 -
Just tried one company - Allan and Allan, and they gave me a quote for £930. He asked me what was the best quote I'd had so far, so I said RAC - £695, and he said that online quotes were unreliable and needed authorizing by telephone or something? So he asked for one that was by phone, so I gave him my renewal price of £890, he said "No can't match this" and hung up!
Poor service or what? Is he right about the online thing? I can't see why, you can buy online so how can the price alter once you've bought it??
Or is he just fobbing me off?0 -
Just rang High performance and ended up being told I should go out on the pull to celebrate my RAC quote!! Lol.
Didn't think I'd ever hear that from an insurance salesman!!0 -
try Liverpool Victoria... http://www.liverpoolvictoria.co.uk/insurance/car_insurance... v.cheap!.. not sure if its cheaper than your existing quotes or not... worth a try!
regardless of who you go with, check to see if any cashback sites can help you out such as http://www.quidco.com/browse/0 -
I just recently renewed my son's insurance and after many online quotes and phone calls went for RAC Direct as they were the cheapest by far.
Previously he had been insured with Ford Insure as it was 2 years free insurance when he bought a car 3 years ago and then renewed last year with them after they messed something up with advice for him and ended up having to give him the policy for £200 less after I argued with them.
This year they wanted over £900 for a Ford Focus 1.6, 22 yr old driver with 3 years no claims! RAC wanted quoted over £300 less.
The idiotic thing is that both companies are really Norwich Union offshoots!0 -
And was that rac online or phone?0

The quote was done online but I finalised it by phone as I had a question to ask them about breakdown cover.0

Please could someone advise me on a cheap insurance for my son. He 19 and a university student. He only needs to drive holiday times when he comes home. I don't want to take a whole years insurance for him. My present insurer Norwich does not provide short term insurance for juniors. I believe Fortis will insure short term but restricts to only 28 days max within a year.0

Couldn't you put him on your policy as a named driver?:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

Is the vehicle driven at any other time by anyone else?
Is he the main driver of the vehicle when he is on holiday? All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
