;DHello, we signed up to 18866 a few days ago, and find it excellent, but do not phone abroad, so far they have been very efficient. Regarding your remark Red about could they empty our credit card accounts, this nearly stopped us using this service, so before signing up had a word with the credit card company (Goldfish)
They said keep an eye on the invoice, if there is anything that looks wrong, let them know immediately, there is a form on the back of the credit card monthly account to fill in if you have any worries and they guarantee to take up the matter on your behalf if there are any problems, having said that, we have reduced the amount on our credit card that we can use, just in case!! We await our first bill with baited breath. Regards oap ps As Martin has recommended this company, we feel fairly optimistic! We are not going to use the 0845 lines though and the other one , cannot just think what it is but its the one to mail order companies mostly . It seems cheaper on BT particularly at weekend.0 -
Signed up with 18866 a couple of weeks ago and so far no problems at all. Like other people have said, we're not paying much so we can afford to live with a couple of hiccups! My boyfriend phoned a South African mobile the other night - only cost him 15p a minute. When all our calls were going through BT, he managed to spend a good £25 on one short phone call - I'm now in charge of the bill! ;DSealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0

You might do better to South Africa (landlines), ie 1p per minute, by using this number:
0844 861 12 12
You dial it directly from your BT line, then once connected you will hear a voice prompt, dial the full South African number.
The charges for this call will be shown on your BT bill, ie you do not have to sign up to any company. BT charge 1p per minute at all times for calls made to the 0844 86 prefix.
For South African mobiles you can use this number and make calls for 6p per minute at all times:
0871 754 15 150 -
Thanks alot for that Steve. I thought that 15p/min to a SA mobile was good - but 6p/min is brilliant! ;D Do I have to set up an account, or will it just get billed on my BT bill?
Cheers for the tip!
Edited to say - sorry, just re-read your tip and it says that it will just show up on my BT bill.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

No problems here in Manchester.
My partner's mother lives is the US and is constantly on the phone to her. I've saved a fortune thanks to 18866!
Also, we use 18866 as a business and that's another fortune saved. (Used to use 1899 for mobile calls because they're now 2p a min cheaper. We now use my 3 mobile's 750 inclusive mins for mobile calls).
Now and again in the business we have had one or two engaged or bad lines. It's worth it, believe me, for the amount we're saving (sorry to go on about it!)
And another thing...any way to stop the robbing monolith that is BT getting my money has to be worthwhile.Look into my eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes but in the eyes... :rolleyes:0 -
