1899 & 18866 getting crap?

Re. margaret's problems. I must admit I usually get the per minute charge before the phone starts ringing, but there has been the odd occasion when this has not happened, but extremely rare. Having said all that we must be saving oodles compared with BT rates! Pity about the 118866 confusion, I would dial manually each time on that particular connection and see if this makes a difference."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

You do not hear the price announcement message if the call is answered or diverted immediately - the call still uses 18866/1899.
Thanks

I see 18866 was mentioned today on BBC2 Working lunch consumer program. Basically just a brief mention that a viewer rang in and said why use VoIP when 18899 and the other number they use is just as cheap. They then aksed for viewers feedback on what they thought of it.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
I have used 18866 twice this morning and they seem to have changed the message, instead of saying this is a free phonecall they now say zero pence0

theloft wrote:Yes, I have noticed this as well. Probably a Trades Description thingy, as it wasn't a FREE phone call really was it!! The message should say "1p connection charge", but of course we are all waiting for the day when they up this to 2p or more !
Am sure it says "this is a half P a minuite charge"?0 -
red wrote:hi, we've used the service and found it worth using as costs compared to calling charges are usually better, without paying an ongoing charge for maintaining the account. the only concern i had (and still have) is that they could just rip everyone off with a masive demand to your credit card...what protection is there against this, does anyone know?
I have just registered with my debit card rather than my credit card. I suppose they could still rip you off, but not heard of a problem so far0 -
