I have been trying to register with 1899, but every time they say that their capacity is full and not taking new subscriber. How long do I have to wait for the application to succeed ?
Try at the beginning of the month, I believe they have a quota each month. which brings me to another subject. I have told members of my family about 18866 and my son has told most of the people at work, they in turn tell there relatives and so on !! Will we be cutting off our own noses by recommending these Nos. I can't believe BT will allow it to keep expanding at this rate. They won't have any customers left soon.

Does anyone know if it is possible to place a restriction on a particular number, so it is impossible to ring that number. I NEVER ring directory enquiries because of the exorbitant cost. I would always go online where you can find out a number for free. I would gladly block my phone from ringing that number if I could.

Debs, I contacted BT and they informed me that they weren't able to bar 118866. I have received another e-mail from 118866, as follows:

    customer.services@118866.co.uk

The first thing I would suggest you try is removing the 18866 from speed dial and then dial 18866 manually from your phone. If when you dial and the same situation occurs the problem is not with 11 88 66 but is with your network provider which is rerouting the call incorrectly to us. We do not have any control over network provider's digit analysis and therefore we cannot be responsible. It should be noted that all directory enquiry numbers start with 118. I would suggest that you contact the company that controls the 18866 service and explain to them your problem. It is their duty to contact their network providers to ensure that the correct data fill has been carried out on the relevant telephone exchanges.
Below is the 18866 website that you can contact. You should provide 18866 with your postcode, network provider (BT or Cable & Wireless etc) and hopefully they can locate the exchange where the calls are being rerouted.

I trust that this will help

That's a very helpful reply from then isn't it, maybe they have had a lot of complaints.

I have used the service about 7 times since signing up a week or so ago, and fingers crossed, no problems/incorrect numbers so far!

Been with 18866 a while now (Blackburn) No problems with call quality, misdialling etc. Only got one lot of engaged tones and that was when I was trying to call several people in Birmingham (late afternoon). No problems since.
