1899 & 18866 getting crap?

hi, we've used the service and found it worth using as costs compared to calling charges are usually better, without paying an ongoing charge for maintaining the account. the only concern i had (and still have) is that they could just rip everyone off with a masive demand to your credit card...what protection is there against this, does anyone know?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Despite sending 18866 a cheque 3weeks ago to clear an outstanding bill of £8.53, including a covering letter ANDsending them four e-mails during that time I have had no response.
Worse still, I have no service so my Christmas calls to the far east have cost me a fortune on BT.
How do I get the 18866 service back?
Anybody working there and reading this, PLEASE get in touch.0 -
You might try using one of the other service providers for calls to the far east, ie those which you don't need to use your credit card for. Instead you use one of the normal diallling prefixes, usualy starting 0844. and these calls will be billed on your BT account. Here's a site with listings of various operators you can use for national and international calls:

Anyway, you could always use the MSE Callchecker to find a cheap international route using your BT landline.30 years, 217 days!0 -

I was in the same situation - You just have to wait.
I did pay them by bank transfer in the end though, and it was back up and running within about 5 days.

Had problems with the international lines being engaged for ages. tried without and it was ringing so must have been a peak calling time to USA. Still wife saved a packet by using 18866 to call AustraliaNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

I made several calls abroad tonight using 18866 and 1899, covering the period leading up to midnight and well beyond. Absolutely no engaged tones/delays, was on each call for ages and saved a damn fortune. ;D'Puritanism: the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy'.

I joined 1899 for cheap rates to Canada but the call quality was so bad we were unable to use the service!!! UK calls have not suffered this problem.Reed0
