    laughingcow,

Not sure about Moorgate, but I went to Fenchurch St store for 7.30 - it opens at 7.30. By the time I got in only sweets and cans of drink left, and only just a few of those. Staff said people were queuing from 6am! I would imagine it will be similar for Moorgate.

I can't even get up to the city for that time, so won't be trying again!

I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here! :D

The pants were different in ours nor did they have the jewellery set pictured. Sad that our one would only allow you to pick one of the jewellery items even tho I was second in the queue and there from 7.30 am when some posters on here are saying that they managed to bag a brooch AND a bracelet etc. etc...

Just asked M&S and there is NO rule that says you can't have more than one of the jewellery as part of your 5, just that you cant say have 2 pairs of socks or 2 ties(unless of course there are 2 of you).

Queue at ours was massive and tripled back on itself by 8.40.After leaving the store with my items I notice it had grown even more. I am doubtful that most of those people would have gotten anything,

Our branch only allowed us to have 1 item from each table, so got a jewellery set, cufflinks, passport holder, bag of sweets and something else. However... as I was 2nd in the queue, the manager asked the person in front and myself if we were together and we said yes and we had built up a rapport since queuing at 7.45am. The manager said there would be a surprise for us and to wait after we had got our 5 items.
To my amazement he said as we were the 1st ones, we could buy any 1 item in the store up to the value of £50 for 1p!!

I couldnt believe it - I got a lovely linen jacket for £35 as there wasnt anything for £50 and it cost me a 1p.

Dont think this will be happening again though.

OMG how lovely. This didnt happen at ours where I was one of the first and was there earlier than you.Lucky you!

Went to Solihull straight after the school run and didnt even bother to join the queue thats was snaking out of the foodhall, past Clarks and nearly all the way back up to Mell Square. Apparently people were there at 6.30am so no-one with kids to take to school stood a chance.

One deaf man was trying to order things for tomorrow and didnt understand what was going on - I felt sorry for him.

To make it fair to everyone I think they should have made it one item each in a lucky dip sort of way and spaced it out through the day.

I got to my local store at Hayle this morning around 8.55am. The queue wasnt too bad, maybe around 50 people. We joined the queue at the back, but then the doors to the food hall opened, so everyone piled in there. Not to miss out we also followed and got to the Penny Bazaar only to be led back out and told to join the queue again. A few customers were unhappy about the lack of organisation and that they should have put a sign up telling people there was no access to the Bazaar through the food hall. So we all had to rejoin the queue at the end, which of course pushed us further back and made us wait longer.

By the time we got to the front of the queue, they had run out of ties, cufflinks, purses, scarves, leather passport holders and every step we got closer we waited for someone to shout the next item out of stock! But luckily by the time we go there, I managed to get sweets, knickers, jewerelly set, mug & tea towel!

We then went off to Costa for a coffee to relax after the stress of it all! :rotfl: After we left Costa we passed M&S again and they were giving out ready made bags of sweets and drinks and gave us some eventhough we had already had our 5 items! So managed to get another 3 bags of sweets and 2 cans of drinks!

I am chuffed with my bargains, but don't think I would rush to do it again! Hope those that didn't get anything today, get some bargains tomorrow!
  • Crawley was a bit of a con. Consists of one small table of items, and only available to buy from in the morning.

    some people make me LOL

    i work for m&s

we (staff) have been joking all week. the stuff for 1p is a load of rubbish (i.e. stuff that was identifiied as the LOWEST SELLERS - or at least one of the lowest).
we even joked that people will think everything is 1p. but we had phone calls from people thinking everything was 1p. they thought they were gonna fill a trolly up of dresses/jackets etc for 50p LOL.

also the idea of this is that people make a donation to the charity. but i can guarentee that 95% didnt and 95% of the 5% made less than £1. its a sorry sight to see.

as for queing for it - that actually made me laugh out loud....its a load of rubbish to get you in and if you bought 1 full price item theyve got you hahaha

Wife queued this morning. 300 'tickets' handed out to those at the front of a queue to qualify for the offers. Later on ruck seen as 'products' had run out, even for ticket holders. PR con the lot of it!

wolvesfan - it's probably not a good idea to slag your employer off on a public talkboard.
