Well it wasn't worth the parking money. i got there at 9.15 couldn't get there sooner as had to do the school run. joined the queue which wasn't that bad really, got to the front to be told nothing left. They said they only had enough for the first 200 there was never 200 in front of me. Not wasting my time tomorrow as it will only be the same again.

It was a bit of a mess at Victoria. There are two entrances. One of which had a queue of several hundred people and the other about twenty. They opened the door with twenty people first and then tried to turn them way from the penny bazaar. They refused and then opened the main door and it got quite ugly! It really was quite poorly organised by the management to let that happen. I wasn't really impressed with anything and it certainly wasn't worth the queue for me.

    Hi HRC99,

Sorry to hear about the Victoria store, but you have helped make me feel a little better about not getting out of bed on-time and missing it!!

    :)

There are 5 different jewellery sets so you can get one of each. You just can't get two of the same thing.
In my local store you could only have one piece of jewellery, but actually i think that's a good thing as it left more variety for people still queueing. The staff were very friendly & the whole thing was very well organised. There was a cordened area outside with security staff to ensure no queue jumping. Well done M&S!:j
  • well, i went but when i saw the queue just turned round. It was ridiculous and TBH apart from the jewellery bits, i dont think any of the other items are worth the hassle. But dont shoot me as that's just my opinion. ;)
I think there will be a lot of disappointed people who have queued for ages but wont get anything.

Arrived at 9.15am to find a giant queue like a Disney ride snaking down towards Primark. But undaunted I joined the queue and slowly shuffled along about 5 metres in 10 minutes. They were letting folks in to a special area so that normal M&S shoppers were not held up.
I then saw a security guard and he announced at the back of the queue that the items remaining were some sweets and soft drinks, everything else was sold...
Amazingly although I left the queue there were about another 200 folks who stayed put !!

Very well organised in my local store. Only came away with cans of drink and sweets. All gone by 9.20am.

I agree - maybe they should give numbered tickets away or something to avoid lots of people queuing who will not be able to go in? I think one poster mentioned this already at one store but they didn't do that at the one I was in.

The little smoothies were a nice though!
  • Exactly the same experience at the Wigan store. I was there before opening time and there was already a long queue. It was very well organised, someone gave out leaflets showing what was on offer and free carrier bags to put the items in, so you could choose before you went in. However by the time I got to the front of the queue someone came out and said there was only cans of pop, sweets and M & S mugs left which is what I finished up with. Still I can't complain as I did get something. My advice is get there really early and go to the entrance in the Grand Arcade not Standishgate.
