Exactly and I know that ALL stores source their goods from the cheapest places possible but it's a sad reflection of where we now are as a former 'manufacturing nation'. I always check where an item is made (if it's stated!) and will buy a UK item if it's available and at a price I can afford. There are still some 'British made' items out there, just a few!

Getting away from the thread subject, i know, but we should be more "protective" of our own industries, or should have done in the past, its too late now.

I cannot believe that people are queuing up to spend 5p:confused: If this is not an example of how shopping mad this country has become I don't know what is.

Please don't come out with the excuse that these wil be given as gifts for people who are watching their budgets. Come on - a pair of cufflinks or a tie with a M & S logo on it, a beach ball?

I too am watching my budget - I find the easiest way to do that is to visit shops as little as possible!

Queuing is a classic British pastime anyway :D

I continued to queue even knowing most of the stuff had gone. I figured I'd been there for ages already, might as well get some sweets at least!

I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here! :D
  • Does anyone know if stores will be restocking during the day on the 1p items ? Or is it just a case of queuing early on the day and when stock runs out, thats it ? Thanks

I just had a lovely time chatting in the queue in Scarborough, got there about 10 to 9 and the queue was already massive. But stood there anyway and got 5 items, sweets, can pop, luggage tag, tea towel (lovely) and brooch. My mil will love the brooch, its just her cuppa!!
