Well I've been and got my 5 items and I'm very pleased.
I got to the store about 8.15 store opened at 9 and there must have been about 20 people in front of me. Lots more people came just after me so I got there at the right time.
What annoyed me was people joining friends further up the queue, grrrr!
Anyway it asn't a mad rush to get into the store - all very civilised and people being allowed to pick what they want.
I got necklace, knickers, purse, passport holder and scarf. They are really nice and I'm very pleased.
You give a donation on your way out of the sectioned off area.

Very well organised, queue outside with plenty of staff telling you what is happening. Once inside it was a large table with the items laid out and you were given a bag to put your things in and a peel and reveal card. Two queues going round each side of the tables. I got a purse, lovely cream colour with two zip pockets, pair of pants (they were plain black lace not as pictured), black passport holder, bag of sweets (rosy apples) and a pearl drop necklace.
You had to put the items in your bag and be honest about how many you took, I did see a couple of women come back down the side of the table I was at and they certainly had more than 5 items already in their bags, shame on you. You put your money into a bucket at the end and as its for charity they are obviously hoping people won't just put in 5p, I put in more.
To the person that suggested people would go back in the queue, no chance of that today when I came out the queue was massive.0 -
Given that most if not all of the items will have been made in China at the lowest possible cost by people earning an absolute pittance it's somehow fitting that they're being sold for a penny.
Long gone are the days when M and S boasted about the majority of their goods being 'British made'. How things have changed in 20 never mind 125 years............0 -
Just had Sir (whoever) of Marks on the LBC and he was saying some stores already sold out0

Well just for you, I checked and yes some are made in China but the sweets are made in UK and the pants in Egpyt0

I queued from 7.30 at Fenchurch St store (it opens at 7.30), I didn't get in the store til 20 past 8 and they only had sweets and ginger beer left, and promptly closed the queue shortly after.
The table of stuff was really small and they had shoppers to go round with you to make sure you only took 5 items so the queue went really slowly.
Wish I hadn't gotten up at 5!!! But it was worth a go I suppose!
pippitypipI know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here!0 -
Popped in one near moorgate tube on way to work, it was sold out but quite busy with people finding out it was sold out! Was quite annoyed as I got there just after 9, then found out the store opens at 7 :eek:
Sooner have my sleep and pay full price thanks :rotfl:0 -

If the Great British Shopper was prepared to pay more for goods made here, im sure they would still be able to make the boast, but we want quality at the lowest price, hence the demise of manufacturing in this country.Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years0 -
