Old Style contraception

Options
I have been having problems with modern methods of contraception and I'm considering using natural or rythm methods. Does anybody know where I can get more information on this or better still does anybody have any personal experience, good or bad.

The only side effect of the rythmn method is that looking after the children makes you too tired for sex.

I gather that the oral/anal/headache contraceptive methods work quite well.

whenever I see 'rythm method' I always think of it as going at it to a different rythm than normal to confuse the sperm :)

  • Hi,

I'm studying Human Biology at the moment and really the best thing I could advise would be to get down to your local library and borrow a book. For example, Miriam Stoppard's "Conception, Pregnancy and Birth" is a bestseller and outlines how to work out when your fertile period is. It's actually quite simple - although not foolproof!

It is possible to know your body so that you're generally aware of when you ovulate (think stretchy egg-white, which occurs approximately 14 days before your next period), and I think Boots might do a basal temperature measuring thing. Every couple I know who've used natural methods have ended up parents.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Sorry I'm no help I've got 4 children. Someone once asked me if the telly was broken. My elderly neighbour asked if we were having anymore, when I told him no he replied "found out whats causing it then" I didn't know whether to laugh or slap him.

I think because naturally, men and women are supposed to be parents!
