Yep they do tell you there can be slight weight gain... I think I must have a different idea of slight to what they do
Now on the most expensive pill the NHS does (Yasmin) and that seems to be pretty good even if they were grumpy about putting me on it
Although I have had to go back to moodswings and periods then at least the weight is slowly coming back off! But I do agree with others, dieting whilst on the jab is pointless, I reacon it is because you are infact fooling your body into thinking it's pregnant (same as the pill does really) but because you never let it realise you're NOT pregant (like when you stop the pill monthly) then it keeps hoarding the nutrients it SHOULD have been burning and using to help a baby grow. After a while it just seems to get in a muddle and the weight suddenly piles on and until you come of the jab it will NOT go away

Seems my body not foold by anything I got pregnant while I was on the contraceptive injection and the doc excuse was that it was in the first mth and I should have been using another method as well. So I did have the coil fitted had it for 4yrs without any problems, so I'd recommend it. Then OH and I talked decided my 2 were enough as he has a phobia of pregnant women and babies
(which would have ment him leaving home for bout 2yrs, should we have had one) so I got sterelised.

I wouldn't trust the rhythm method.
The best way is to have it all removed and all the female problems just disappear.
I had my child young so I could do that, as I was having gynae problemsAn average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Over in The Arms someone called Gingham Ribbon has been talking about diaphrams...apparently very good, very reliable, and totally non-chemical (apart from some gel/spermicide). Gotta be better than taking chemicals - think it is intrinsically wrong to alter your body's functions when they are perfectly normal to start with. Anyway, there is something on the market called Oves - it's a disposable type of diaphragm available over the counter at Boots (though I'd say check this out before you go in and ask the poor teenager behind the counter for it!). I'll see if I can find the thread and will put the link on here for you.
Here's the link. Well, I hope it's a link. Just in case it doesn't work the thread is in The Moneysavers Arms, Discussion time, and is called Ladies, Mood Swings and Contraception (or something like that...).

My youngest daughter has five beautiful children, and each one was loved and wanted. It always surprises me at how downright intrusive some people are when it comes to children .She gets asked all sorts of things ,including the T.V. one.
As though not having T.V. makes you want to produce children. She has even been told by a perfect stranger in Tesco's that 'I suppose your a catholic'
Which a.she isn't and
b. even if she was, it was still bloody impertinent
She had her daughter and four sons because her and her husband wanted a large family. He works very hard to support them and she works one day at the weekends for the little extras.
They will never be rich monetarily but they have produced five smashing kids who are being brought up with lots of love and affection ,even if they don't get the latest designer gear.
I am very proud of my daughter and think that she does an amazing job with her own little tribe. She also takes the time to be there for me whenever I need anything.
For those that only want 2.5 children then good luck to them but for those who enjoy family life then they shouldn't be made to feel odd or anti-social.
I am a great beliver in that you will only have what you are meant to have,in her case 5 in my case 2, but I also lost two babies through miscarriages.
P.S. although she has a very busy life she also takes time to run a post-natal group for young Mums who are feeling down and depressed, I think she is a credit.:happyhear0 -
I used a diaphram for about a year and found it the best and easiest until hubby had the snip. I felt more confident with this than with the pill as I knew that nothing had been forgotten and it could not be affected by an iccy tummy. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

I use Persona.
It's interesting to read (off the internet) that in USA they are used and fertility predictors to get pregnant with - How I got DS#2 - and in UK they are used as a contraceptive device. I used it between DS#1 and DS#2 although YOU HAVE TO BUY EVERYTHING for them - I get the sticks from Bear Street Pharmacy cheaper than Boots! Better (Cheaper) methods are available from FPC.
Dead simple to use and way easier to do than remembering to take my temperature or pill (how I got DS#1)

Hester wrote:Be careful of the moon if practising natural contraception. Apparently one can ovulate twice in the same month, once at mid cycle as normal and the other at the same phase of the moon as it was on the day you were born (could be at any point of the cycle). This may sound totally crackers but it is the only reason I can think of that explains my recent cute addition to the family. The dates didn't add up otherwise. I now keep a more beady eye on the moon's doings than Mr Jekyll.
Hi Hester,
I've never heard of anything like that before...I know some women can ovulate twice in a month, but had never heard of it being connected to your birthdate. I'm just interested by your post. Where did you hear it? Is it an old wives tale that your little one proved right?

I think it's more likely that both ovaries have released an egg during the month because two follicles have matured. I believe some guy called Eugene Jonas claimed to have charted the moon thing astrologically. Ex-astrologer hereThe ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0
