I think I saw her ... but not when she gave me a ticket. There was a woman sat in a car (In a restricted bay, I should have checked if she had a permit!!) and she was there all day,

It could also be some busybody, or even a deliberate scammer. I see UK CPS are another of those firms who will sell you all you need to run your own parking scam straight off their website.
Our self ticketing solutions are ideal for small sites. We provide you with a pack, which includes our signage and penalty tickets. You simply ticket those vehicles illegally parked on your premises, send us the ticket stubs and we do the rest. We will collect the monies owed, issue reminder letters etc. In return we will agree a 'compensatory' payment direct to you for each paid parking notice you issue.

    They even take paypal!

Hi, Jackie is the name on our ticket aswell. Did you ring UK CPS? Rang twice...both times got through to the same person and he sounded as though he was in a car. Very arrogant he was and claimed he gave us the ticket to 'stop people like you' and replies like 'so what?' , just wondered if you had similar response. And that will be the only communication between us from my part now!

Keep us updated on how it goes. I'm sure nothing is going to come of this but a few poxy letters and threats.

Im interested to know what is St Michaels Court? Is it maybe the carpark above? The old BT car park?

In reply to pogofish...maybe we should all invest in some tickets! I'm sure I can find somewhere local to use them. Even if every other person pays up...maybe with a bit of extra charges at £75+ a go thats a good return!!!

Exactly the same thing has happened to me today (saturday 16th May) - I was parked at the bottom of Shire oak street on the right as you look up. I saw the yellow signs saying that parking was permit only but assumed that these were only relevant to the parking bays. I was not parked on a yellow line and wasn't obstructing traffic. I am not intending to pay for something so manifestly unjust. What is also laughable is my ticket is apparently for not parking in a marked bay, there are no marked bays on that part of the street
Anyone have experience of non-payment and consequences? Do you reply to anything they send you or just ignore it?

Hi Gilles, so far I havent heard anything... from what i can gather (researched a hell of a lot on this) they will sent you some empty threats and letters with all the new charges added etc etc but after 4-5 letters they will give up. Do not respond to ANY of the letters or ring them. i rang them but gave them no details and that was a waste of time.

They wont take u to court as they dnt have a leg to stand on especially in our cases! Keep us updated on how it all goes please.

    Thanks

Nope I didn't bother ringing after I read about the response you got. I haven't corresponded with them at all and it has been a while now and I have not heard anything .... I have a new car now .... so they will probably give up anyway!

On a side note ... I want Jackie's job .... she seems to just sit in her car all day and give tickets out and smoke and drink coffee .... lovely!

    • do not pay
    • do not contact them - that's what they want you to do so they can gauge their victim
    • ignore their threatening junkmail
    • ignore the threatening junkmail from their powerless debt collectors (they are NOT bailiffs)
    • they will give up and go away

This is a mail scam. All you have is an unenforceable invoice - private companies have no powers to fine people, only recoup actual losses.

    Hi all,

I've just been stung by this little problem today. My ticket was issued just hours ago.

I would like to say that I used to work for BT in St Michaels Court. As far as I know, the road is a public thoroughfare. BT added the double yellow lines themselves to discourage people parking there and this was done some years ago. The private car park has been sectioned off already with barrier access for staff. I also have photos to show where I was parked. I wouldn't mind, but I'm not even parked on their 'do it yourself' double yellow lines. I'm glad I've seen all of your comments, as I was not sure whether to pay them. When I rang the conversation ended up with 'see you in court'.

The thing that worried me, as per previous posts, was about the £3 p/day interest charges. Surely though, no court in the land would force anyone to pay interest on a fine they are contesting? Everyone should have the right to appeal without penalty. Can anyone advise on this?

    Anyway, I won't be paying.

    I'll keep you posted.

The thing is, as far as a PPC is concerned the only right you have is to pay them what they ask for and when they ask for it or else.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Heres something not many people know that i have found out...iwent to citizens advice and was given some information, and i quote 'while a dispute is being considered, all actions to process the ticket must be suspended' ukcps dont offert this...does this void the ticket? just shows how they are acting unaccordinglyas they will continue processing and ask to send payment.
