Car Scrappage Scheme

Thanks Hethmar - you've put my mind at rest, at least if VW are saying the same thing it must be right, I just couldnt find anything saying what dealers quota's were on the web yesterday but i suppose that they are not obliged to make it public knowledge.
Cheers again
Dol
Well, I expect they have to share it out amongst the dealers otherwise theyd be a bit of a hoo ha. I think the girl I spoke to said something about being allowed just 50 Golfs under the scrappage scheme.
Ring round other Hyundai dealers and see what they say.
Good luck.0 -

0% finance and over 20% off the list.
did you have to haggle to get this, or did you just get it on a normal deal? And also what finance did you take, pcp or ?
also to anyone who has bought a hyundai here, did any of you use pcp finance, because it seems the apr at hyundai is quite high at 18.9%?0 -
Apologies if the answer is already in the thread but can't find it!
My car has given up the ghost. It meets all the criteria for using the scrappage scheme.
But, can't make up my mind what to do!
Haven't much money so would have to use financing.
Do I buy a cheap new car and use the scrappage scheme or do I go for a nearly new car and abandon the srappage idea?
Doing my research I can't seem to find anything new much under £5000.
Have been used to a 2 litre engine so might find something a lot smaller (for what I can afford) a tad frustrating. However, it's really only going to be a run around so I will probably get used to it!
So, is there anything out there that's a real bargain?
Also, my car is a non runner at the moment - if I buy using the scrappage scheme will this matter?
Thanks for any help - greatly appreciated.0 -
As long as your car has a current MOT and tax disc (or within 14 days of them running out) plus insurance cover when you order the new car then you should be ok for the scrappage deal.0

hi guys im a long time reader of the forum and this is my first post!
i have a car eligable for this 2k scrap deal the problem i have is this though - i have seen 2 different adverts (both from arnold clark by the way!) for 09 plate cars, the first a kia pro ceed the advertised price was £11,000 my thinking was that with the scrappage it would be a great buy at £9k.
went to the kia dealership and the salesman fobbed me off with thats a mistake in the advert/we sold that 1 car we had in that deal and insisted kia had told the dealerships that anyone who wanted to use the scrappage deal would have to pay list price!
now my question to you good people on the moneysaving expert forum is this- can i look at the adverts people like arnold clark have advertising cars for a price (a new ford fiesta econetic for £9,999) and think that i will get £2k off the top ok?
looking on the net and reading this thread i can see some cars- again a ford fiesta listed at £7995 and then under scrappage deals it is listed as virtually the same price! its messing with my head!:rotfl:0 -
Why dont you try looking a bit further afield or at some of the car broker deals?0
-
yeah i am keeping my eyes peeled, its just that they seem to have the best deals on arnold clark!
i just wondered if this is a usual price ploy with car dealers- advertise a cheap price then tell you they sold the one car they had at that price and tell you the price is now 4k more expensive!0 -

Scrappage is applied to the list price, which few people pay anyway. So, yes, it's perfectly possible to do the same or similar deal without the scrappage arrangement on some marques. Where the scheme does make sense is with the Hyundai kit or where a manufacturer rarely discounts, such as Mini. However, you'll still need 10K for this. I qualify, but decided that I didn't want an i10, Picanto or Matiz which are great deals for those wanting cheap run-arounds. (Not sure I'd spend £5k on a Matiz mind you). However, the scheme clearly does help some if you're not too selective in your choice of vehicle. Clearly, many of the posters are happy with the scheme ... which is good news!
This is my take on things, anyway.0 -
A number of brands are applying other discounts too, not all are reverting to full list price.
Some mfrs will be having 1st July price rises though so don't dither...you need to move now...! Genuine advice!“Official Company Representative
