Car Scrappage Scheme

Hi all, im looking at getting a new car but not via the scrappage scheme and came across this -
http://www.sytner.co.uk/kings-chrysler/manchester/new-cars/new-car-offers/chrysler_sebring.aspx
which states its £10,350 off the list price plus £2000 scrappage which would make this terrific value at £7,450 (they are quoting a list price of over £18k !!!) the deal ends june 30th.
I know that Chrysler has problems but with Fiat on board they should be ok. I think Chrysler are trying to off load there larger models prior to Fiat taking over.
Hope this helps someone, Im considering going for it myself (shame my car is 9yrs old Doh!)0 -
We also considered it but when you take into account EVERYTHING, then you realise it's just not worth it!
My OH works for Pendragon and even the owner of that thinks this sceme is utterly useless....This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.0 -
Well, not sure about that Rick, I started off feeling like that but when you see people with cars probably only worth a couple of hundred quid being able to get a brand spanking new one for less than 5k with the scheme - I think thats great.
We ourselves wouldnt have bought a new car, never have had a new car and we are coming up to our bus passes but with this scheme, the incentive was there to do so. Plus on top of the £2k you can negotiate another couple of thousand or more off a premium motor, which we have.0 -
i drove past a skoda dealer in glasgow today and they had a big sign outside promoting thier scrappage deals, £5995 for a fabia and £8995 for an octavia, probably base models but worth a look for some folk im sure. i would prefer a skoda to any of the korean stuff....work permit granted!0

My MIL is after a new car scrapping her 10 year old Rover
She either wants a Peurgot 207 verve 5dr or Ford Fiesta 5dr, she mainly drives around town and not much either0 -
Renault are doing Clios for £6500. I'll be trading my ancient clio for a new one.
I was going to buy a newer car this summer - the current one cost £450 to get through it's MOT last year. So I'm seeing the scrappage scheme as the way to get a brand new one rather than one a few years old.0 -
Does that include the optional final payment of £5400? As from what I can tell the final cost is £11500.
Spoke to them yesterday and they will do me a corporate deal (supply only - no finance) for £9450 on the Sebring 2.0 Crd diesel.
They also confirmed that if I bring in an eligable car under the scrappage scheme the price will be £7450 - which personally I think is an amazing price for a car that has a rrp of £18k.
Yes if you take the finance its £11500 (with no scrappage)0 -
It is amazing bobby, slightly worryingly amazing.
goldspanners - after always driving VW Golfs I had a Fabia 16 v. comfort for the last 4 years and its been a wonderful little car. Sadly I dont like the new shape one otherwise they would have got my business for the scrappage deal using my OH's car. I have gone instead for a golf again. Good luck with your purchase.
antispam, the Verve 207 was on special offer with £3300 off til recently - see if she can wangle that again with the Peugeot dealer.0 -

I wanted a fiesta but they are overpriced and they are no help when it comes to finance, I belive the mazda is based on the fiesta so worth a look.0
