Spoke to them yesterday and they will do me a corporate deal (supply only - no finance) for £9450 on the Sebring 2.0 Crd diesel.

They also confirmed that if I bring in an eligable car under the scrappage scheme the price will be £7450 - which personally I think is an amazing price for a car that has a rrp of £18k.

Yes if you take the finance its £11500 (with no scrappage)

you would be mad not to go for this at that price.

If its reg 1 September onwards it will be a 59 :) Probably worth asking them to hang on til 1 September to register it as it will have better resell price :) Im doing the same with my VW.

Oh and you can get some decent personalised number plates on DVLA site for the 59 reg already.
  • Thanks to hethmar for their re-assurance

Having spoken to them on the phone on Friday, all is in order. They said they would put a scrappage FAQ on the website and they have

I'm a new user so can't post links but if you go on the BERR website it's there.

I think this is a little light-hearted joke from the OP. Nice one! You've made me smile, so thanks.

No this is not a "light-hearted joke" I asked this as a very serious question as my current car is only 8 years old I thought I would qualify with this other old car.

I thought I heard that the vehicle had to have a MOT etc., OR a sorn cert.
  • Just ordered i10 classic today from Leicester. I'm based in Mansfield and the chesterfield dealership told me they couldnt take any more orders pn the classics but could for the comfort - not sure if they were trying to pull a fast one! The salesman at the Leicester branch was great and told me that hyundai are sending another batch of their cars in July to keep up with demand. Only problem I have now is whether to go with their reasonable 12% apr finance options or to take out a private loan. Any advice?

Afraid the SORN eligibility was thrown out when they realised the loop hole. Ours was SORNED but luckily it was still insured and had an MOT so I whipped out to retax it again before we could order via scrappage.

If you like Nissans, they are extending the scheme unilaterally to 8 and 9 year old cars I believe?

    Oh, just found this too:

    • Younger trade-ins eligible
    • Five to 10 year-old cars qualify
    • Low-deposit, low-interest finance also available
Mitsubishi has launched its own 'scrappage' scheme aimed at buyers with younger cars to trade in.

The company has already signed up to the Government's scrappage scheme for cars over 10 years old. The new initiative offers the same £2000 saving to buyers with cars between five and 10 years old (registered between 31st August 1999 and 31st August 2004).

I was referring more to the fact that your post made mention that local children had taken to dismantling your car and it was in bits. I love the idea of turning up at the local dealer with a crate of car parts for a scrappage deal. Just seemed a little random. But, I enjoyed it all the same. So, apologies anyway.

Anyone had there tax refund yet?. I applied for mine over 2 weeks ago, still waiting. DVLA did say it can take upto to 30 days, but I'm a bit worried incase the scrappage scheme has confused things.
