I went ofr a test drive yesterday, and was told by the salesperson I won't be able to reclaim the road tax on my car to be scrapped.
Is this right? I've got over six months remaining, which is about £90.0 -
No its not right, tell them to contact scrappage team
See my post above and the email I received from the Scrappage Team concerning that point.
Here it is for you - with the contact name aswell:Thank you very much for your query. Can you please note the following:-
the old car must have a current MOT test certificate, or one that has expired no more than 14 days before the order for a new vehicle is place
-
the 14 days also applies to tax
-
the old car must be insured at the time the new car is ordered
Once you have ordered your car, you should SORN your vehicle if it is going to be more than 14 days between the expiry of the MOT and the delivery of the new vehicle. Once you make a SORN you must keep your vehicle off the public road as you will be committing an offence if it is used or parked on the public road. You will need to make arrangements with the dealer for your old car to be picked up once the new one is delivered.Kind regardsMarylyn GaskinVehicle Scrappage TeamDirectgov website: Scrappage SchemeBERR website: Vehicle Scrappage Scheme0 -

Looking at the fuel consumption (they say the maximum is 72mpg), tax band (£35 for the next year and exempt the year after), and not having to have the car MOT'd for the next 3 years this seems like a good proposition. What does everyone else think?
The C30 is a steal at the moment if you can afford it.0 -
Hi
I went to Hyundai yesterday to order a brand new i10:j and scrap my old N reg astra. The car i wanted was a red i10 1.2 comfort and the price an impressive £5450 - Hyundai are currently offering £1200 scrappage on this model. I was told that i couldnt order my new i10 until 1st July as Hyundai have already reached their government quota for this quarter and the new quarter doesnt start till 1st July:huh: - anyone else had this problem? I cant imagine that they were having me on as they still need the orders- they have promised to phone me on July 1st to arrange ordering of my car.

I know that the VW dealers were saying that they were only allowed a quota at their dealership. You could try another dealer?0

Thanks Hethmar - you've put my mind at rest, at least if VW are saying the same thing it must be right, I just couldnt find anything saying what dealers quota's were on the web yesterday but i suppose that they are not obliged to make it public knowledge.
Cheers again

Yes, I'd like to drive one to see what it is like, but it seems a really good option if you have £10k to spend.
It is the same underneath as a Focus of course so it ought to be good!
Looking at the consumption figures it definitely looks worthwhile to spend an extra £300 for the stop-start system (Yes, I know the difference between laboratory and real life figures).
Looks like it is very economical if driven correctly

dw and i ordered an i10 on the 11th may and were told we would be called on the 18th to arrange collection. we were called just after this to take my mot and v5 in. he then said it would be 1 or 2 weeks for delivery. thats now nearly 3 weeks ago. i called to enquire as to the expected date and was told by the receptionist that they didn't when it was to turn up. this was after my calls were ignored for two days.
has anyone collected thier i10 yet and if so when did they order?0
