No I didn't have to send back originals, she is just going to send me the replacement. I gather from their screens they may be able to pick up the errors anyhow?and can then justify the errors that have been made. On another note, gd gesture to say your mistake for not noticing before hand, apologise etc (they liked that) because my dealer did state they can charge if they want to... Phoning them is a bit of a nightmare, all the numbers to press, in the end I got to the change name bit, and it comes up with an automated "check the website" or press 9 to listen to this message again. I pressed hash and got through to somebody

Yes, Ive just managed it and then after all the number crunching they have given me another number for the "scrappage team in London". Spoke to a bloke there who sounded like Id just woken him up. He ummed and arred about it and said you need to speak to the team leader, put me through to that and its just voice mail
Ive left the message.
For anyone slightly interested, the London number is 0207 2155 0000 -
Hmmm Im in the Kent area and was given this number 0870 240 0010?? Is that the one you tried originally? Don't no if its area specific. Hope you have more luck with this, and get through to him/her
and get the answers you need.

Got a response today from e-mail sent last week.....
Thank you very much for your email.
The old car should have a current MOT test certificate, or one that has expired no more than 14 days before the order for a new vehicle is placed
The 14 days also applies to the Tax disc
The vehicle must have valid insurance
Kind regards

Just had a call from the chap in London. Explained the situation and he said basically, if its a first name and an obvious mistake then its up to the dealer to satisfy himself you are who you say you are. Dealer accepted scanned doc so I guess thats ok.0

Brilliant, lets hope that works out OK for you then! I think my problem was that it was actually a recognised "christian name" ie from keely to kelly. Whereas yours is a definate error. Better to be safe then sorry though, and if they bring it up atleast you can say you have the facts!0

They may accept a scanned V5 initially but they wont on the day you hand over your car which will have a different V5 to both your scanned one and the one you have in your hand. You might be lucky and they wont read it. Then again they may notice it and hold things up.0
-
Why would the car have a different one to that scanned and in your hand?
I think the fact the V5 is as old as you can get the new doc as the car has been with us 20 years and at the same address must surely prove we are who we are. The guy who said it would be fine if the dealers were happy is a government scrappage team leader.0
