Well our salesman told us he'd get one as close to other half's initials as possible. So that would assume you can. However we've ended up with one nothing like it.
So that doesn't really clear that up at all0 -
Car being PDI'd right now so all looks well for pick up this evening :cool:0

You can still get very decent 09 number plates for £390 on the DVLA site.0

Apparently, Ford are having a problem with the discount on their accounting systems and whether the discount comes before or after VAT.
 :wall:
I think you have been fed bull. Mine went through OK (an SMax too, on ford acquire with scrappage). I did need to go back to the dealership and sign a ford document stating I didnt mind them scrapping the car and reclaiming the car voucher on my behalf. Then again this could be the dealership being "nice".Why would the car have a different one to that scanned and in your hand?
I think the fact the V5 is as old as you can get the new doc as the car has been with us 20 years and at the same address must surely prove we are who we are. The guy who said it would be fine if the dealers were happy is a government scrappage team leader.
Dealdrivers has cleared this up. Until 29th May the documents needed to be IDENTICAL, i.e. if it says Ms on your driving licence then it needed to be Ms on the V5 scrappage car. This has now changed so my original post is defunct.
edit: Cat C write offs can be masked too it seems (under certain circumstances).0 -
He he, well I suppose I will only know about reg when Ford get back to me!!Hope so!!saves the purchasing private, if you can get a close match! However if they are anything like the DVLA, I presume it will be nothing like it (whats happened to you maybe molby73?)0

Have now received a reply to my email to the scrappage team too:Thank you very much for your query. Can you please note the following:
-
the old car must have a current MOT test certificate, or one that has expired no more than 14 days before the order for a new vehicle is place
-
the 14 days also applies to tax
-
the old car must be insured at the time the new car is ordered
Once you have ordered your car, you should SORN your vehicle if it is going to be more than 14 days between the expiry of the MOT and the delivery of the new vehicle. Once you make a SORN you must keep your vehicle off the public road as you will be committing an offence if it is used or parked on the public road. You will need to make arrangements with the dealer for your old car to be picked up once the new one is delivered.Kind regardsMarylyn GaskinVehicle Scrappage TeamDirectgov website: Scrappage SchemeBERR website: Vehicle Scrappage Scheme0 -

Can anyone advise on this please?:
We have a 12 year old vehicle (small van) purchased new 12 years ago and certainly eligible for the scheme.
The problem is that we purchased it as a sole trader non vat reg business and have recently become a Ltd vat reg business. (Director is same name as current owner and same address).
If we were to purchase a new small van and put the registered keeper as identical to that shown on the old V5 can we get an invoice issued in the Ltd co name to enable us to reclaim the vat, etc.
One dealer has told us we "probably" can and another has said definitely not.0 -

I've been looking for another car since xmas and I wasn't planning to get a brand new car prior to this scrapapge scheme, but this seemed like a reasonable deal as prior to the scrappage scheme, this was about the price you'ld pay for a year-old i30. Had some savings set aside so not got into any debt. Just a shame I've had to scrap my M Reg Peuget. It's got 105k miles on the clock, but I reckon it could have been a good first car for someone willing to do a bit of DIY on it.
Price on hyundai site is £7995, any idea what the extra £50 is for?Next year we'll be millionaires!0 -

Why cant you just change the V5?
Your accoutant is probably the best person to advise you on this.0
