Well the driving licence was in a different address to our current address and that was fine for the dealer and Honda finance so I doubt they will quibble over a 'mrs' when it should be 'ms'.

As a belt and braces job, Ive just gone through the thousand options at the DVLA number and spoke to a girl who at first said she couldnt change details. I told her the website says she can and that people on this forum have indeed been able to do it over the phone.

Pause, asks whats the discrepancy. I tell her its a minor one, the DVLA have transposed 2 letters in the name George. "So how are you spelling George?" "Erm, George, the english name George" "And do you spell that G e r o g e?" "NO, its spelt George, G e o r g e" "Oh right, I see, well thats a minor change and I can get a new doc out to you in 7 days" "Lovely, thank you" "And you are spelling George G e r o g e" I sit stunned for a second. "No, thats the mistake you have already made on the document - we want it corrected to the English name, George, just George, G e o r g e" "OK madam, thank you" Phone went down.

Now, what is the likelihood .................................

I have just purchased a Ford Ka Style + with Ford Acquire Finance. Was able to use my 2000 as a deposit, years tax given to me (which is only £35.00 anyhow). Pick up on Saturday :), ordered Saturday just gone. However, waiting lists depends on colours chosen. Got a 7.9% finance deal over four years, ten pounds final purchase fee. Hyuandi I did look at, but for people getting a finance option did not feel suitable as only hire purchase :(. I20 nice car, very good price, but will not ust £2000 scrappage as deposit. But however a typical 5% on this. But not yours?? Cant wait to pick my new sparkly baby up :)
We should have picked up our new Ford S-Max today - assured that all the paperwork was done but dealer is still delaying: saying that FORD still dont know how to represent the £2000 scrappage amount on the paperwork.......... despite assurances that they have! Apparently, Ford are having a problem with the discount on their accounting systems and whether the discount comes before or after VAT.

The problem is ford are in disagreement with the government on how the discount is calculated, it's not that they don't know! Looks like it's still not sorted.
    Next year we'll be millionaires!
  • Did you take out the finance option? Just seems alot of confusion on this :( especially frustrating when you want your new car!! And as for George, lets just hope they get it right, I think we can see now how the DVLA make so many mistakes on our documents.......
  • Manuf'rs and BERR met on the 27th to review some of the processes areas that were not working and making life difficult on this scheme for dealers and drivers, there are still some points to be ironed out between the parties, but minor mis-spellings on V5's WERE covered last week.

We put an update notice with guidance on our scrappage pages last week following that meeting, so you can see what is acceptable as minor anomalies..and what is not.
In the end section of the page linked here, there are examples of acceptable/unacceptable wording anomalies agreed between mfrs, DVLA and BERR last week - it may help many of you getting in a knot over this!

DD, what a wonderful comprehensive page your company has provided on this, bravo.

The brokered dealer we are using told me after that meeting that we could not use SORN so I rushed out and got the car taxed again for 6 months. I asked if I could then cash it in for 5 months but he told me it has to stay on the car til scrapping?

From your page I see that the tax disc now only needs to be valid at the time of the order, not kept on the scrap car for months until the new car is delivered.

I ordered a new i30 1.4 comfort yesterday for £8,045 with the scrapapge scheme. Delivery date end of June. I had a choice of 3 registration plates. I've been looking for another car since xmas and I wasn't planning to get a brand new car prior to this scrapapge scheme, but this seemed like a reasonable deal as prior to the scrappage scheme, this was about the price you'ld pay for a year-old i30. Had some savings set aside so not got into any debt. Just a shame I've had to scrap my M Reg Peuget. It's got 105k miles on the clock, but I reckon it could have been a good first car for someone willing to do a bit of DIY on it.

Yes, its a bit sickening that some of these 10 year old cars are more than capable of years more use. My previous car was a 15 year old VW Golf with 80k on the clock. I sold it to a young chap 2 years back and I still see him driving about in it.
