An interesting comment she made was that the dealer must see your car when you place the order as well - not sure why though and she also couldn't explain why.
    Dealer never looked at mine.

Then again, he never asked for my insurance either, so maybe it's a new requirement.

Never looked at mine either - she took all of the details of the dealer when I told her (dealer has been a bit of an !!! so I wasn't too worried about handing over details).
  • I have just purchased a Ford Ka Style + with Ford Acquire Finance. Was able to use my 2000 as a deposit, years tax given to me (which is only £35.00 anyhow). Pick up on Saturday :), ordered Saturday just gone. However, waiting lists depends on colours chosen. Got a 7.9% finance deal over four years, ten pounds final purchase fee. Hyuandi I did look at, but for people getting a finance option did not feel suitable as only hire purchase :(. I20 nice car, very good price, but will not ust £2000 scrappage as deposit. But however a typical 5% on this. But not yours?? Cant wait to pick my new sparkly baby up :)

freightexec2009 - I think you find that the government is not allowing the £2000 to be used as a deposit and has to be used off the price before any financing arrangement.

    I needed:

Copy of V5, copy of Tax disc, copy of MOT. This was Fords requirement, apparantly, before they would release the car. Scrappage car was registered new at first registration, was mine for 6 years and is taxed/MOT'd

freightexec2009 : you are a VERY lucky man, KA are in demand, the build times are getting monstrous for some models.

Poolie: the dealership simply massage the figures accordingly. My scrappage was effectively a "trade in" on their paperwork for £2000 (and I was using dealdrivers prices to get a rock bottom price so I wasnt shafted into a 'false deal')

I collected my Hyundai i10 on sat. Comfort 1.2 in Silver

Got home after 50 mile trio and noticied a nice stone chip / missing paint on drivers door about 3mm long.

Contacted dealer and no problem bring it in and they will sort FOC.

No mess or haggle as to weather it was there before I got it or not. Really pleased.

have managed 300 miles already. I does not drive like a tiny car. very very please with my first ever new car.

I scrapped a 12 year old Rover diesel which was on its last legs. More things did not work than did work. I think I spent 2 years without a heater ! No rear wash wipe for that long too. Boot lock jams etc etc.

A new car as good as the i10 for £5800 is a steal. I drive lots of rentals for work and this is much better than a lot of those, just smaller.

Erm...doesn't it say it can't be an insurance right off?

What has that got to do with the car being complete or roadworthy?

nothing, but it is still a stipulation. My car was HPI'd at point of sale (I had the other docs with me) so I assume this would have shown up then.

Indeed it is, however nobody has ever said that it isn't a requirement, but it has nothing whatsover to do with a car being complete or roadworthy.

OK - just got off the phone and will clarify a couple of points. Your current car must have the following AT THE POINT OF ORDER OF YOUR NEW VEHICLE:

    • MOT that is either valid or has expired no more than 14 days prior to the order of your new vehicle.
    • Current valid TAX disc
    • Current Insurance certificate.
These may expire after the date of order of your new vehicle but it does not matter provided they are all valid at date of order.

Once you have placed the order the dealer may arrange to scrap your car but have probably been advised by the manufacturer to not do so until you receive your new vehicle in case something goes wrong (I think Hyundai are advising dealerships to scrap cars 2 days after you have received your new vehicle).

Thanks mint, but will they be putting all this on the official site? Otherwise we cant really rely on it being the definitive facts can we.
