Car Scrappage Scheme

One loophole that they haven't covered is change of ownership. By the looks of it you can change the name on the logbook as soon as you receive it, quote me if I'm wrong. Therefore someone buying a new car could make a deal with someone who's about to scrap a car.Next year we'll be millionaires!0

However, is it the case that a larger history of owners causes the car to depreciate more? (obviously not important if you don't intend to sell anytime soon, but just curious)0 -
But Derek, the owner of the scrap vehicle must have been the registered owner with the DVLA for at least 12 months ...........0

I know plenty of people with old bangers on there last legs, that they've owned for over 12 months who'd chop my arm off if I offered them £500. Had I had been in the situation without a car to scrap myself, I could have given them £500 & got them to buy the car for me. Then they've got £500 towards a secondhand car.Next year we'll be millionaires!0 -

I think the scrappage scheme was designed for people like me - 13 year old car, rusting so badly that for several years at MOT the car has had to be rewelded, so costing me loads of money. I had intended buying a nearly new car this summer any way, and now I've gone for the brand new because of the scrappage.
By the way, I wonder if the 'insurance' being discussed isn't the insurance cover note for the new car (at least this is what Toyota have said I'll need). I placed my order on Thursday, 28th and the dealer took everything and gave me photocopies of the MOT and registration document.
