Car Scrappage Scheme

Please does anyone have any info that can help me to locate an i10 Classic that's in stock or coming quickly? I'm ready to buy one, my old car fits the scheme, but suddenly the local dealerships are saying it'll be 12 weeks. From what they say, people are queuing up to buy them, and there's certainly no room for negotiation.
After donkeys' years of pouring good money after bad with my appallingly unreliable 10-year-old banger, I was so looking forward to the prospect of headache-free motoring. And my old car is currently off the road, in need of yet another expensive repair, so I'm desperate for the new one as soon as possible.
I've raised the funds - but I can't find anywhere who will take my money and get me a car quickly!
I just feel, either because it's scrappage, or because I'm a woman on my own, I'm not being treated seriously.
Please can anyone advise?0 -
Michael Jackson has cancelled his UK tour after he discovered £2000 for a ten year old actually refers to the car scrappage scheme.0

Hiya
My Hyundai dealer told me that if I wanted a I10 Classic, I would have to wait untill 'the back end of the year'! Apparently they were selling very well before the scrappage scheme came in and now the orders are backed up.
I ended up ordering the I10 Comfort, althought that's going to take 8 weeks to arrive. I get the impression that if you ask for metalic paint you may get a comfort sooner.
So it looks like the choice is pay a bit more money, and get your car sooner!
not soon enough for me though as I'm having to MOT my old banger again :rolleyes:0 -
My mother in law is looking to trade in her rover 214 ,11 years old had it f0r 9 years,no problem getting the scrappage deal but she wants a honda jazz ,only problem is she wants it in september(new reg,i dont blame her) and honda have only joined the scheme for 3 months obviously they think they will sell enough cars in september,i feel sorry for the workers in swindon surley its better to sell more cars at a smaller profit than no cars at all,
it looks like she will get a new fiesta instead now so it is hondas loss and fords gainHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I just ordered the i10 1.1 ES today...should be receiving it in July as it's already being shipped here.
About the tax and MOT: I asked clearly whether we needed either on the date of delivery. He said no. Just on the date of order.
Edit: yeah my dealer also said the i10 is selling very well. Hyundai as a whole is doing really well. I was lucky because I chose the i10 ES...if I'd gone for the Classic I'd probably be waiting till August/Sept0 -
So now we have:
“There has been some confusion in regards to SORN, so this aspect has been removed from the scheme to prevent further problems.
All vehicles using the scheme must be roadworthy, with a MoT valid within 14 days of the ordering of the new vehicle. (Some dealerships may allow some leeway.)
For further updates, please see the following weblink. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/AdviceOnBuyingAndSellingAVehicle/DG_177693 “
It would appear that someone at the BERR said a little too much to the media and the SORN loophole has now been closed.
This is a blow to motorists looking to trade-in off-road vehicles and also to dealer’s attempting to generate sales and stay in business."
Again, no mention of the tax disc - does the fact SORN is no longer allowed mean the car must have tax or not - if not, why are so many car dealers asking to see this?0 -
Jen, what about the Peugeot 107? £35 a year tax.
’ Peugeot 107 Urban Lite is on offer for £5,945 - this includes a £2,000 customer saving. Benefits include an impressive up to 72mpg fuel efficiency rate plus you get the £35 Road Fund Tax. Good dinky run-around for the those with tight budgets.

Thanks for that, does seem to be the sensible thing, doesnt it - just having them on the date of order, not delivery. Im going to double check with the dealer on Tuesday and then get my 5 months tax back. Ive paid a deposit, so I assume I have made the order contract though I havent received the paperwork yet as Im doing it through a broker - so at a distance from the dealer.0 -
