Thanks so much for this, Hethmar. I bet you're clearer than their website. Anyway, will try them out.

I do know that the i10 has been popular, but just wanted to check it out. Alternatively, I'll have to get a more expensive car, which I didn't want to do! I like the way they are asking for a credit card - I will use my Egg card for cashback, and if they'll accept the rest on card, perhaps I'll apply for the Amex card for 5% cashback!

    Thanks again!
    Jen

Jennifer, they dont ask for any cards on the site! Have you got the right one? Carfile? They just pass your enquiry on to one of their dealers and the dealer will contact you. Dont pay anything out until you have agreed to the offer they make.

A more expensive car may work out the same if you get a discount on top of the scrappage. Have you seen the VW Fox - it is SO cute. Ideal for city driving. But Im not sure which they are giving scrappage on - so you need to ask them.

Heres the VW blurb on the Fox and Polo with scrappage:

    http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/#/new/fox/
You could buy a new Fox, a city car designed to provide outstanding space in a high-value, high-quality package available from £4,845 through the scheme.

The Volkswagen Polo which offers you all the protection you need with it’s legendary build quality and numerous safety features, and when you step inside, the ergonomic design and attention to detail have created a stylish interior that is both practical and relaxing, available through the scheme from £6,345.

    What about the peugeot 107?
http://www.peugeot.co.uk/about-peugeot/environment/scrappage-scheme-offers/?campaignid=NCS_Q2&advertiserid=WhatCar%20&bannerid=300x250107 Urban Lite from an Incredible £5,945 on the Road. Upto 72mpg* and only £35 Road Fund Tax.

Do a comparison to see what each of them have got/not got for the money.

There are hyundais to be ordered on scrappage still, but you may need to go further afield in order to do so. There are not hundreds of dealers in the UK, just ring round the ones on the dealer locator on the Hyundai website. One in London (can't remember which) is owned by Hyundai themselves. I doubt that they'd be telling you you can't have one on scrappage. There is a wait on delivery time until about August/September, though.
Remember that dealers generally have two marques of car...and they would always rather sell the more profitable.

The scrappage sites are all now saying that SORN is not eligible and you need to have a tax disc (whether this tax disc is just for the date of the order or the actual hand over, no one seems to know :() I went out and taxed our SORN car yesterday because the dealer wanted to see it before putting in the order. It would be best to double check with him but I shall be well peed off if they now back track.

Except the official site, which strangely makes no mention of road tax..

Little wonder there is soo much confusion.
