I bought a whit Kia Picanto on Tuesday for £4195. Paid a deposit and was told that it would be approx 12 weeks. Just received a phone call to say that they're not making anymore of these particular models in white and I have 2 options - to pay £380 for another colour or to pay £300 for the latest model.
I feel a bit cheesed off and conned TBH.

That is the situation with the Picanto apparently. I ordered one last week. I notice the price rise yesterday so I called the dealer. Kia expected about 3000 orders for the base model but have in fact taken 7500. My dealer was waiting on a spreadsheet from Kia today saying whether I have got one or not.

He also told me that dealers selling the new model get an extra £100 commission so he said if i ended up with the newer model he would knock that off. So it would cost me an extra £200 instead of £300.

Really please with my dealership. They couldn't have been better thoughout. Can't say the same for the other half dozen I tried

Nic, Id cough up the extra for the newer model. Its going to be worth that bit more when you come to sell it.

I know someone asked the question but I am not sure if anyone responded - has anyone actually received their 'scrappage' car yet?

nope. Delivery date is still 30th May for mine. And reading through here there is a lot of surmising.

I sealed my deal (including scrappage) on the 10th May. Go and do a deal with the broker, if they wont deal then walk away! Some online brokers ARE taking scrappage deals so use those if you want. Just be aware that you might have to drop your car off somewhere.

Not sure if this has been coverd in this huge thread already but I was wondering if you have an accident in your 10 year old car and it is written off, as the market value is now a minimum £2k for all 10 years or older cars, is that what you can claim??;)

It is the Part Exchange value, not the " Market Value ", the insurance company will only pay the true market value.

I see, but is the TRUE market vaue not £2k? as if you went and bought another car for £1500 it would not be worth as much part-ex because you hadnot owned it for more than 1 year and would not be included in the scrappage scheme, so could you not claim for uninsured losses?

Arguable, I suppose the only way we will find out for absolute certain is await the first incident reported on here, I still think that the insurance companies will pay what they deem to be an appropriate market value excluding any " scrappage value ".
