    The VW website says this
The discount will be offered against new retail vehicles which are first registered in the UK on or after 18th May 2009 and declared new at first registration in the UK with no former keepers.

So it looks like its only brand new cars.

    Definitely only brand new.

Have you looked back a couple of pages - Lady K is also looking for a new polo - you could read the advice given to her.

My daughter was told the other day by a vw dealer that it would be December at the earliest for a new polo if she ordered then which is longer than we had expected. Is it the same wait time for dealers and brokers or is one quicker than the other? She is just concerned that her car might not hold out that long.

She has chosen her specs now but is just going to pop into the dealers to look at a new golf so she can get an idea what the colours will be like as they should be a similar colour range to the new polo shouldnt they? Then shes going to get a carfile quote

She was saying that the black interior comes as standard with the new polo but if you choose metallic colour you have to pay extra to then get the black interior which seems a bit rubbish
The extra you pay is for metallic paint not black interior.

I don't know if shes missunderstood somehow or if its correct but she knows its about £385 extra for metallic paint but apparently the interior is not standard black with metallic and you have to pay extra if you want the black which is standard in the ordinary paint new polos
    Thanx

I think she has that wrong Lady K, from what I can make out the black interior is standard. Have a look on their homepage. The other thing I noticed is that the red the polo has isnt the same as the Golf red though.

For anyone who is/was waiting for their new car - how good (or bad) was the dealer in keeping you informed? We ordered a Skoda Fabia five weeks ago and were told it would be around a six week wait. Heard absolutely nothing since, so we've called the dealership a few times this week, and just keep getting fobbed off (someone will call you back, call back tomorrow etc etc).

We desperately need to know how much longer it will be as we are reliant on our car to get to work, and it really is on it's last legs. Also got a flat tyre the other day, so driving on the spare and wondering whether to risk not getting the flat repaired, as there seems little point if the car is going to be scrapped in the next week or two.

Have you received details of the order and that its been placed with Skoda? That was the first thing we received from our VW dealer for the Golf. This confirmed the specs and the date ordered and its number on the VW manufacturing list?
We then got an email when the car was being shipped, with all the details again.

I dont think you should let them fob you off. Is it a local dealer that you can go to in person?

from a personal point of view, and i know its bad customer service, but sales staff are so snowed under with hand-overs, and customers in the showroom that finding even 5mins to make a phone call is nigh on impossible some days

I know you shouldnt complain, the scrappage scheme has done what it intended to do, but when you are used to having time to gather your thoughts due to lack of customers, some staff are just not up to coping with the demands being put on them currently

I dont think you are being fobbed off, if they say the salesperson isnt around to give you an update. With the company i work for, unless you are a salesperson, then you are not allowed to give a customer any information pertaining to their deal, just incase you give conflicting information

i would say the best time to catch the salesperson, would be within the last half hour before closing

Hi, no we haven't had anything like that. All we got was the handwritten invoice/order that we were given on the day we placed the order. Getting v worried now!

It's just down the road from where I work, so if we don't hear anything today I will call in tomorrow. Only problem is, I don't know if they will speak to me as everything has been done in my OH's name. I will give it a try though.

We are getting really desperate as the car that is being scrapped is my OH's, and he has a 110 mile a day commute. I have a 30 mile a day commute so am currently nursing his old car while he uses mine. It's got a coolant leak which needs topping up at least twice a day, and now has no spare tyre. We are just praying it will last until the new car arrives, as neither of us can get to work on public transport.
