Sponge its perfectly feasible what you plan I think. Re the insurance - with a new car the dealer usually provides 7 days free insurance so that they can tax the vehicle for you. You could then get your mil to insure it once its in her name. But Im not sure how you would benefit really? Do you mean mil will give you £1k after the deal?

Your car would need tax, insurance and an MOT at the time of the order though.

Nearly. She has a car, but it's not old enough to be used in the scheme. She'd sell her car privately and give me what she gets for it, a few hundred quid. Using my banger for the new purchase she gets the full benefit of the scrappage allowance regardless and I benefit from not having to pay someone to take my car off me. :money:

Oh yes, my car is taxed, insured and MOT'd.

Just wanted to ask as Hethmar mentioned he got his car from a dealer over 100 miles away does that mean the servicing and any repairs has to be done from the same dealer?
    Thanx

No Lady K - when you buy a new vehicle your warranty covers you anywhere. (Jack had already given you that info above :))

Well woke up, its not a dream, i own a 59 plate, took a wee photo for you guys on the phone

Its such a pleasure to drive in the city, the steering is so light, and its quite nippy too, loving the fuel gauge too :)

Nice pic jb, exactly like the one I am going to pick up Friday next week :D glad you are liking your new mazda. What's it like going over bumps, the only niggles I have read in reviews, is that it's sensitive to anything that strays from smooth tarmac. I'm glad it feels nippy, because I was contemplating going for a 1.5 but eventually went for the 1.3. I'm leaping 16 years in motoring terms, from my scrappage car to a brand new one. I expect there will be lots of 'wow' coming from me in the first few weeks lol

I've had no issues from bumpy roads, I'd say its more comfortable than my old beemer and much sportier and comfier than my girlfriends 07 fiesta. I managed to stop a ned in a 58 mini from cutting infront of me on Thursday from the lights which made me smile. I've only got 1 issue which should only affect the 3 door which is the way the seats fold to let people in the back, once the occupants are in the back the front seat clicks back in a silly upright position, which means you have to adjust the back to a better suited angle. Not that big a problem for me as no-one will hardly be in the back.

You might have created a problem because the named owner won't have had the car for 12 months. Unless i'm reading your post wrong and you're not changing the V5 on the old car?

If you're wondering about re-registering the new car in your name that's absolutely fine but you'd have to check
    A) Finance agreements as I think you'd technically be selling the car
    B) The V5 would then have another owner on the log book so when you come to sell it, technically it would have had 2 owners. Depends if this is a problem or not for you.

My car has now been pushed to W/C 11th November, this is turning into a joke. That's three months since I placed the order, begs the question of why i'm scrapping my old car if it's expected to run another 3 bloody months from its MOT.
  • Any one can use someone elses car on the scrappage scheme as long as the scrappage order is in the name of the person on the V5 once car is registered one calender month from date of new car registration you can change the owner to who you like obviously the original owner needs to be aware whats happening and they would be as they need to sign the order.anyone looking to order a car under the scheme should do so quickly as most people in the industry think the money will run out buy late october so will no make it until the february date, once you order is place though your order is safe, good luck
